  1. Bring your Speedo, Teva's and black socks and you'll fit right in on Speedo Day at Byron on the 21st. Maybe we'll chip in some water to shower you with. The other days you can shop around. anywhere in NorCal you'll have a good time. madjohn Main goals in life: Be on the "Jumpers Over Eighty" (JOE) World Record and attend the Lost Prairie Boogie once after I'm gone.
  2. What kind of fool leaves out the date? an old one. Yes, the 21st. Word is that there are Speedo surprises in store. Again, be afraid, be very afraid. madjohn
  3. That aint something yer gonna see , Jason. Main goals in life: Be on the "Jumpers Over Eighty" (JOE) World Record and attend the Lost Prairie Boogie once after I'm gone.
  4. Thanks for that, Jason. I didn't want to have to take my contacts off to avoid that picture, then stagger back up to Byron Heights in the dark. My 2005 Zinfandel just won a Gold medal at the Orange County Fair and I'm bringing some up for Red Wine/Nighty Night. madjohn Main goals in life: Be on the "Jumpers Over Eighty" (JOE) World Record and attend the Lost Prairie Boogie once after I'm gone.
  5. Be afraid, be very afraid. As luck? would have it, the Annual Byron Tracking contest is taking place the same day as Speed Day. By popular demand ( by the female persuasion ) there will not be a Speedo Tracking contest. the skinny: Tracking contest: Open Class- 300+ jumps, first prize $100 and bragging rights and name on the trophy plaque; Novice class- < 300 jumps first prize $50 and illusions for the future; There may be a Women's Class and a Heavyweight Class if there's enough interest. Has only happened once before. Speedo day is in its 3rd occurence, all men wear Speedos, Teva's and black socks. (There's a reason for this but you have to be present to hear it). There will be a Speedo Speed Star event. So come if you dare, it's the weekend before LP. madjohn Main goals in life: Be on the "Jumpers Over Eighty" (JOE) World Record and attend the Lost Prairie Boogie once after I'm gone.
  6. Jason, It may be time for someone else to take over the tracking competition, at least for this year. I may be organizing the POPs 40 way, as well as other stuff. For some reason there's always interest in the tracking competition until it's about to happen, then either folks are on other loads or the conditions aren't right for it. Either way, it takes me away from keeping jumpers in the air. we'll see. madjohn Main goals in life: Be on the "Jumpers Over Eighty" (JOE) World Record and attend the Lost Prairie Boogie once after I'm gone.
  7. Looks like a DZ.com formation load now. madjohn
  8. Ok, you whining kids, don't make me stop this thread and come back there. Anyway, I talked to Fred the other day, hoping we could have the DC-3 for the POPs record 40-way. Doesn't look like it. People keep talking about the expense of flying it, can you believe Dause used to charge us $10 and he still made money? I guess ferry costs would be too much, but I remember the Boogies when the DC flew Glacer tours. cya all there, I'll be on either side of you all at the bar, Lang in hand. Shell, Q's in the Galapagos, that's why I signed in for him. madjohn Main goals in life: Be on the "Jumpers Over Eighty" (JOE) World Record and attend the Lost Prairie Boogie once after I'm gone.
  9. Great story, Zing. I was tired of hearing Flatbed 10 repeats. madjohn
  10. Hell, it's the 40th. Do you want to wait another 10 years to have a special celebration? Some of you wusses will have stopped jumping by then. Thanks for "clickifying" it Ian. One of these years I'll learn how to do that. madjohn Main goals in life: Be on the "Jumpers Over Eighty" (JOE) World Record and attend the Lost Prairie Boogie once after I'm gone.
  11. For those of you males that want to get ready. We plan on really shining (read SUCK least) this year. 12. 169.5????? Ian, you're going to be a shadow of your former self. How much did you spend for your new jumpsuit? Hopefully it hasn't affected your singing voice. looking forward to jumping with the "new" you. madjohn Main goals in life: Be on the "Jumpers Over Eighty" (JOE) World Record and attend the Lost Prairie Boogie once after I'm gone.
  13. You know, there haven't been that many Canadian posts in a while, has all this sexual talk been scaring them away? I'm sure it's not because they've all been watching Hockey. madjohn Main goals in life: Be on the "Jumpers Over Eighty" (JOE) World Record and attend the Lost Prairie Boogie once after I'm gone.

  19. I have two sets, one at Byron and one at Lost Prairie. It's how I preview my dives for jumpers. I thought they were still being made. Guess I'd better check Para-gear's website. madjohn Main goals in life: Be on the "Jumpers Over Eighty" (JOE) World Record and attend the Lost Prairie Boogie once after I'm gone.
  20. I don't know what demons were chasing you, my brother. You recently survived a car crash that should have killed you, that should have been a sign that God wanted you to stick around for a while. You should not have gone like this. I hope blue skies bring you peace. madjohn
  21. Believe me people, I sure as hell don't want to be the one posting this, but it fell to me. East County Times Antioch Vasco Road Suicide Victim Identified The Alameda County Coroner's Office has released the name of a man wh crashed his car and then committed suicide Monday during the evening commute. John Kelly Jr, ( YES IT'S HIM,JP) 43, of Antioch, shot himself in the head after crashing his car into a pole on Vasco Road about 5:10 pm. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Kelly was driving south, near the Vasco Road Landfill, wehn he swerved acrsoss the northbound lanes, the Alameda County Sheriff's Office said. "He sideswiped a telephone pole and ended up in a ditch," sheriff's Sgt. Scott Dudek said. " He took his own life." Sheriff's Sgt. J.D.Nelson said Kelly was married and had two children. An off-duty police officer from San Jose saw the crash and walked up to Kelly's car, but it was too late, Dudek said. "He was thinking he was going to render aid," Dudek said. The crash and shooting snarled traffic for at least an hour as the California Highway Patrol, sherfiff's investigators and the coroner responded. MEdiaNews This has been confirmed, I just talked to Connie Krusi who has talked to his widow. Connie and Vic had been waiting for JP to join them at a baseball game Monday night but never heard from him. As more details become available, I or another will post them. GOD DAMN IT. madjohn

  23. Hey, do you really have 3500 jumps? I seem to remember a "visiting Fireman" with about 350. One of us is getting older. madjohn Main goals in life: Be on the "Jumpers Over Eighty" (JOE) World Record and attend the Lost Prairie Boogie once after I'm gone.
