I've been to the DZ before just to check it out - and I know that that arn't *that* busy. Last I knew they were a tandem factory out of a 206, and Las Vegas has the upjumper population base to support several good DZ. He hits the tourism market REALLY hard - just my .02, but he could make a LOT more money and do well to diversify his customer base. In Houston a few weeks ago I had the honor of watching some jackass in an older Lamborghini peel out of an intersection and right into the side of a new H3 Hummer. The funniest part is that it happened at an intersection leading out of a Kia dealership. I would like to have seen the two motorists exchange information. I agree 100%. You can't be afraid to go for used gear. We have a couple of good jumpers at our dropzone, 100-300 jumps who are STILL using club gear because they have a stigma of buying good, used equipment. Talk to your local Rigger(s). yeah, fraud has slowed down on the private con-artist sector, but it's very alive and well in Corporate America and definatly in the legal sector especially to screw out poor college kids and widows. We are a mostly college student Dropzone, and I myself have bought 2 rigs on a nothing budget, and the first one was while I was still in High School. You can buy a good first rig, with an AAD, for around $2,000. It may be hard to find right off the bat, but ask your local riggers and they can help point you in the right direction. What I did was pretty simple - I went to a local bank, sat down with the loan officer and got good 2-year loan. I ended up paying some $70 a month, which really wasn't that bad. Since I paid it off early, I didn't even have to pay that much interest, something like $95ish. =========Shaun ==========
