  1. I would not consider it a "leak" from my understanding it was a hack. None the less I can't believe that they didn't have higher security measures in place. An IT friend of mine told me it wasn't even encrypted, which if true is mind baffling
  2. I'm asking for a few reasons. 1. Some of the guys at my DZ started skydiving just to do a wingsuit, so a few started at 201, which peaked my curiosity if most WS flyers are the same way. 2. Perspective from veterans, if they did start early would they have changed anything and why 3. Just from reading about WS, it seems that the risk of line entanglements increases a bit, whether that is from air burble, low speed, bad position etc, it does seem to happen more. Which brings a question, if the average cutaway is 1/1000 and most people have under 1000 jumps, how did they handle cutaways with out much experience. 4. I'm completely new to the sport, and it has captured my curiosity. Eventually I would like to try every form of skydiving, and wingsuit I imagine would be my favorite. But I am a long way away from this While I agree self reporting data is not the most accurate, it MAY be better then no data. I also did a search and found no such question On the same note I've asked a few people that are cameramen, how many jumps they had before they started filming, and if they would have changed it. It seems most started before the 200 jump suggestion/rule, and highly advise to be completely comfortable with equipment and skill level before adding more elements to an already complex sport. This question serves the same purpose, for others to share their experience and any suggestions, for newbs like me
  3. From one croatian to another, this is badass!! I will definitely look into this when I am ready. I bet in 5 years there will be full blown indoor competitions
  4. Uhh.... Don't confuse God's plan with random chance. Even Einstein knew that She does not play dice with the universe. I really wish Einstein had lived at a time where he didn't have to invoke "god" to make a point. I can't believe for a second Einstein actually believed in "god." I do believe he only invoked "god" to make points and make himself somewhat more emotionally acceptable. Well it seems he did, perhaps not in the traditional and religious sense. “I have repeatedly said that in my opinion the idea of a personal God is a childlike one. You may call me an agnostic, but I do not share the crusading spirit of the professional atheist. … I prefer an attitude of humility corresponding to the weakness of our intellectual understanding of nature and of our own being,” the scientist wrote, AP reported. And as far as that bible verse, I'm sure that could be said for a lot of points in history where there was a full moon or eclipse, and a major storm. The moon heavily effects the tide, obviously
  5. Since I have no Idea how to edit my original poll, I created a new one with better options (I believe) Feel free to delete if not allowed or clogging up bandwidth
  6. I did not know this, I was told it was always a requirement. Thanks, That would make more sense. I'm not sure how to edit the poll at this point
  7. I imagine there would be a few, do you think it would be a significant percentage? I'm actually slightly surprised no one has clicked 1k+ out of 12 people so far, interesting
  8. You sir, are a certified badass!! Props for not letting life slow you down!
  9. I most certainly will do wingsuit at some point. But I have not even started AFF/AFP yet, so I'm just curious as to when everyone else started and if they feel there is any draw backs starting at 201. Just looking for perspective from the veterans Personally I plan on jumping every state in the US after 200 (if I feel completely comfortable jumping alone) Not quite sure when I will do wingsuit, way too early to tell
  10. I'm just curious as to how many people jumped right into WS after the 200 minimum. And if you did start right after 200 jumps would you do it the same way again? FWIW just curious, I have no intention of doing a WS anytime soon
  11. Of course the quick and simple weight loss program involves a chainsaw. If you have a high pain threshold and don't mind being a bit shorter than you are now...... My pain threshold is abnormally high, but I like my limbs
  12. Thanks everyone for the opinions! As far as weight loss method, I have done a considerable amount of research and believe I have found the fastest method that does not involve starving, pills or steroids while retaining lean mass. It's called Ketogains, I highly recommend it, they have a facebook group and a website. I was down for a few weeks on antibiotics, but am starting the gym back up this week. I do 4 days lifting and 2 or 3 days HIIT. As much as I love nature and trails, it is not a super effective workout. Plus steady state cardio takes away from lean muscle gain in the long run. But I will be adding muay thai back in shortly one day a week, and that will help a lot. I will be at 220 before the end of October, and past that I really can't put a time frame on getting to 205 because it gets much more difficult once you reach a lower BF%. I was planning on doing a jump a week until I complete my license, but I think it would be better if I saved my money and did my license in a week or two. This will also give me time to bring the weight down to a moderate level as well There is one tandem instructor at my DZ that is on the muscular side 205-215 if I had to guess. But other than him everyone is fairly thin, which I'm noticing is a trend. So theoretical question: If two jumpers are equal skill level but different weights, the heavy jumper could fly and track faster but would have a more difficult time varying fall rate?
  13. This can be said for almost every activity I've ever done 1. Don't ride motorcycles, it's dangerous, you could die 2. Don't do Muay Thai, you are going to destroy your body and bones 3. Don't do BJJ, the wear and tear on your joints will be too much over time 4. If you own guns the risk of you shooting yourself increases exponentially 5. Don't drag race your new expensive car, you're going to total it and be fucked The truth is out of all the extreme activities I have done, the one that is most likely to kill me is my 50 minute ride to work Life is short, do what makes you happy. Some people are so afraid to live that they criticize any fun activity anyone does, and label it as dangerous or irresponsible. No one gets out alive, enjoy the ride And as far as people that bring up mortality: I generally think they are fascinated and have no other way to relate. Personally I look up mortality statistics for almost every activity I do in an attempt to learn what not to do IE its rude to die with you handles in tact
  14. I had no intentions of starting skydiving as a sport or a hobby. I went on a tandem because I always wanted to try it, so after dropping 60lbs ( and still going) I went and jumped and love it now! I have a larger frame at 6 ft, even if I get down to 6% Body fat, I would still weigh in at at 195 with my current lean mass (which will only go up from here) Currently weighing in at 240 30% bf and plan to be 215 @ 15% I saw the weight and tracking thread and wondered in general, how does weight affect jumping? My instructor said in general everything I do is already exaggerated because of my size and to try and slow all of my movements down. Assuming I can learn all the proper skills in the learning process, does being large affect the way you freefall? If so in what ways?
  15. This was was corny I had to share How do you make a tissue dance? Add some boogie
  16. 14 Razor babY!! Still my all time favorite phone and I just bought an S8 Samsung is actually coming out with a smart flip phone shortly
  17. Over the years I've had a lot of different motorcycle helmets. Imo I would worry about it being too heavy and neck articulation. Unless its a high end light weight helmet
  18. Does anyone have any experience at this particular site? Minus the crazy price of 1k an hour, when I called and asked if they had any coaches that specialized in pre-AFF/afp coaching they didn't really have an answer for me on what the differences in the coaching would be. I definitely need help with my turns, but i do not want to reinforce or start any bad habits or muscle memory
  19. Hello! I am new to crosskeys as well. I have done 3 tandems there so far, everyone seems very friendly, so far so good!
  20. While I may be a complete newb, wingsuits fascinate me. Here is a website that may help, and has some relative information (not necessarily reserve related, but PC deployment) http://base-book.com/pc-extraction-and-inflation www.topgunbase.ws I hope this helps
  21. Hello DZ.com! I am Perica (aka Peter) I've been lurking the site for a while, absorbing and learning all the information First tandem was 20 days ago, currently preparing to get my Jump License. I will post a thread of my experience so far, should I post in general discussions?
  22. Cool is an understatement. This is the most badass jump I have ever seen imo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QQL--dkOiGw
