  1. I know of some one who has got 3 cutaways in his first 70 jumps at the same time there are people out there with 1000's of Jumps with very few or nil cutaways. So the moral of the story is ANY jump can be a potential cutaway, so BE PREPARED. Cutaways are not a like the black plague i.e. dont be afraid of them just be ready and prepared. They could be a good learning experience (and fun too..well sometimes.) G.
  2. I was thinking about a making a new avatar but was too lazy and then came across your post.... Cool Link
  3. May be chopping both the arm wings might have been a better idea at this stage rather than undoing the zippers. Just a suggestion. Anyway, glad to hear that you did not get hurt. Fly safe buddy. G.
  4. Rats..its only 6:00AM..got up a bit too early today... I guess thats what happens when the blood alcohol level is too low at the time of going to sleep. Need to kill 2 more hrs before heading out to Sebastian.
  5. Lets see...went to bed at approx 1:00 AM, slept a few hours and have been awake since 5:00AM, dont know why? Gona leave for Sebastian at 8:00...so that gives me 3 hrs to kill....
  6. I heard about a bunch of girls from Sweden who went PRO at CS.....and they are pretty hot looking too
  7. Lets hope a lot! Sebastian is de place to do birdy/flock jumps, excellent views. See you there on Friday!
  8. This is my TSE SuperFly..bought it as my first rig from a friend. It holds a 150 main/ 155 Reserve. I have been told that it can take one size up/down for the main. Hope this helps..
  9. Good info regarding Wingsuit Flight Plan. http://www.flybirdman.com/cgi-bin/gforum.cgi?post=293;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;;page=unread#unread
  10. This week on one of the loads, on the way up the clouds came in and the pilot decided to make the drop at 6000 ft. So that led me to thinking, what is one (Wing Suit jumper) supposed to do in case of a low alti exit or an aircraft Emergency? Do you zip up all the wings, do a normal exit and go for the standard pull procedure OR Do you leave all the Arm/Leg wings unzipped and do a normal Hop & Pop?
  11. Both the passenger and the TM were wearing BM suits.
  12. Hey what is he doing with my suit.....Well mine are a few shades brighter...but otherwise..Yes..its looks similar.... Edited to Add: I have only got the arm + leg wings as red, rest all is blue... Edited to Add: and obviously I look much better in those colors....
  13. I could not come up with anything better in terms of colors (lazy or lack of imagination or bit of both!) when ordering the suit..so I went for the one I have seen fly many time as a child in the comic-books.. Sorry Deuce, did not know that you went for MY colors too...
  14. In your shiny new superman blue and red GTI? Glad you got to jump it!
  15. Yup..good all the way...
  16. Thanks for the article. Its was very helpful. Did a super 2 way Birdy jump with Jhuao(spelling?) today at Space Center, Titusville. Flew right next to him and docked a few times....it was cool jump. Some other Birdy men did some lets say innovative birdman jumps..I am sure you will hear about it soon.
  17. Cool Video... Whats the name of the song on the soundtrack?
  18. I have done my First Flight BM course with Asaf, red the BM manual (a few times), the S-Fly manual (its got good discription of the body position, etc.). Just looking for some ideas here... I will most certainly talk to experienced Birdies or BMIs I can find at my dropzone.
  19. Do you mean the Parachutist (Feb Issue) or the BPA's Skydivie Mag? Well in any case if you can email me a copy, that would be great. Thanks in advance. P.S. PMed you my email addy..
  20. I have just received my new GTI this week and would be jumping it this weekend. So for the first few jumps what all maneuvers / drills should i practice? For example practice pulls, turns, pulling at 5K..what else? What dive plan did you have on your earlier jumps? Also what do I need to brief the pilot about? Which pattern I am going to fly?
  21. Hey when exactly are the Heli jumps at Titusville? Are the on the 27, 28 or the 29 Feb? Where can I find more details like jump price, etc ? Also any advise for Camera jumpers, like the type of different exits shots, etc. ? Hope to see some of you folks next weekend then. G.
  22. I had a similar incident few weeks ago where my reserve handel was dislodged from its place and was flopping around. I was fairly high, so I went on my back while holding onto my handel. It looked like it hand not moved much so I decided to go for my main while holding on to the reserve handel. After the main opened I put the reserve handel back in its place. Rest of the jump went uneventful apart from the bollackin I gave my friend for messing with my handles on the jump. I would have done the same, pull the cutaway first and then go for the sliver. As someone pointed out before that if the p/c and main pin are in place so the main would not deploy. Now..if for some reason the main deploys after your reserve opening (shit happens!!), it should not be a major problem (such as two canopies out or risk of entanglement) cause you have already cut the main away. So I think you did the right thing. I know what it feels like to loose a reserve p/c. I had lost my main & my reserve p/c some time ago. Dont worry too much about it...those things can be replaced. The lesson I learned from that jump was that any thing (which we dont normall think of!) can go wrong on ANY jump, so be prepared at ALL times. Once again you did the right thing. Well done.
  23. After discussing this with a lot of people and after this incident, I am changing to pads.
  24. Good point but sometime you can't help it. Also I don't think anyone dose it intentionally. In my case my friends thumb went through the d-ring when he tried to release his grip. It not making it harder to grab..its more like not getting things stuck in the D-ring, which can dislodge it. I was very much against pads but now I have changed my mind. IMO..pads are not harder to grab when you need.
