  3. Let's see if this brings back memories And this too.
  4. Which did you like better: Odyssey Giro, or ACS (Pro)Rotor? And what about your brakes: Nippon, ACS, or Pitbull? And pedals: Hutch Bearclaws or Shimano DX? And wheels: 36-spoke super lace or 48 spoke HP? The list goes on and on...
  5. One more site for getting started in freestyle tricks
  6. Bikes that are made for flatland in general tend to have a steeper headset angle; usually 75 degrees. And their top tube (or let's just say the front triangle) is a little shorter than ramp bikes. You'll want it short because you'll appreciate the crothc-clearance on tricks like the "decade" and "cherrypicker". The steeper headset angle responds quicker so tricks like the boomerang or tailwhip are easier to pull off. Ramp bikes on the other hand, have about a 72 degree angle for the head set. You can ride any bike flat or ramp. My Haro Sport (I think it was an '87 - has the wrap-around fork pegs, and L shaped rear platform) was built for ramp, but I rode flat with it too. The headset angle was also more forgiving for tricks like the "hang 5" (coasting on the front wheel with a foot on the front peg and seat on your butt)
  7. Also check out www.bladeart.com Quite primitive looking, but at least the pictures and stuff load quicky because the pages don't run any junk
  8. You're talking about these S&W SWAT knives right? Blade material + artwork is what you pay for. Generally speaking, the blade material being 440c is a good start. Back in say 1980 420/440 steel is really good steel. These days, the more advanced steel is S30V. Expect to pay anywhere upwards of $200 for production knives made of this. I've got 4 knives that I carry w/ me everyday: CRKT Brian Tighe Tac - This one has AUS 6 as the blade material: similar to 440c Camillus Darrel Ralph EDC - Blade material is 154 CM: a step higher than 440c, harder so holds an edge better, but a litle harder to sharpen Gerber Air Ranger - blade is AUS 8: holds and edge and easy to sharpen. and for backup - Camillus ArcLite The Tighe I use most often because of it's small size. Uses range from opening envlopes to cutting zip ties. The Air Ranger is the next most used. This is my heavy duty knife and I've used it to break down cardboard boxes a lot. The EDC is my favorite being that it's frame-lock meaning that the locking mechanism one piece with the handle. (Otherwise their liner-lock) Nothing worng with either, just frame-lock is cooler. It's blade material is the best in my collection. The ArcLite... well if I ever need a knife to eat with, I've got one.

  16. But you know... All dogs go to heaven Chin up bro. You'll meet again, and I bet Brutus will greet you like he used to when you get home. May 4th was the 1 year anniversary of Spike's death. He was my wife's dog for 16 years - got him as a pup. I had to dig his grave, and I was feeling quiet sad myself. Thought he's gone, everytime I walk by the spot where his bowl used to be, I move aside because I didn't want to trip it. Weird feeling. I still miss him.
  17. Incidentally this happened near my neighborhood yesterday
