Try going to Cross Keys during the week when it's not as busy. I try to do that for training. It's not as intimidating and you'll have a chance to talk with the staff and other jumpers. The people there will make you feel welcome.

Hi Charlie, I also just did my 1st AFF jump on Thursday. I had 5 tandems before that, and zoned out on # 2. Bad case of brain lock and had to be prompted with hand signals. The AFF went pretty well. Had a hand signal to put my legs out. The instructor said I was 'potato chipping' a little, probaly because I needed to relax more. The landing went pretty well, although I did not stand it up. I made some mistakes but had a blast, and can't wait to do some more levels.

I always thought I would be sensible and just pay for AFF as I had the extra cash. Didn't want to run up the credit cards or take out a home equity loan, but after my 1st Aff yesterday, that has all changed. Finally after #5 tandem, I did my first AFP jump. Words really can't express how awesome this was.

I've taken my son out to the DZ, but not by myself. Although he is old enough, I wouldn't want him to be by himself if something went wrong.
