  1. Depends on age, number of jumps, condition (holes, patches, lineset) What ever you decide to get, have your rigger look it over first before you buy
  2. Yes I would have dug further if it was for me. I spent ten seconds on google and linked the first reasonable looking sizing chart. Part of the reason I was pushing him to contact the manufacturer or a rigger. With the way his follow up questions are worded though it seems he’s trying to lead someone to his idea of using a pillow instead of getting the right container. It could just be that I’m tired though (i work nights) and I’m reading too much into it. EDIT: it appears I am tired. Pillow was brought up by someone else
  3. I don’t like the idea but to each their own. In my opinion it’s not just the container size that needs to change. The deployment bag, pc size, maybe even how you fold the canopy to fit in a wider bag with a pillow? Will you have proper tension on the line stows or will your PC which now might be too large strip the bag before line stretch. These are just things that a 200+ wonder (me) is thinking about and there’s likely other variables that riggers would think of before I would. As far as the chart: the manufacturer says a 132 will fit but it’ll be loose/soft. If they didn’t want a 132 in that container they wouldn’t list that as a possibility at all. Still it’ll be a good idea to talk to a rigger (I prefer face to face) about fitting canopies in your rig
  4. The reserve was likely low pack volume which can fit a size or two smaller and the main was likely overstuffed. Asking your rigger or messaging the manufacturer is the best course of action if you don’t want to rely on their sizing chart.
  5. The sizing chart says a 132 is a loose fit https://www.square1.com/manufacturers/aerodyne/IconSizingChart.pdf
  6. I know on the vector rigs with that adjustment, they loosen every jump. Nothing major but you need to readjust every jump
  7. you do realize this is a ten year old thread right?
  8. I put about 4 roll on the nose of mine when I packed, pushed air out before rolling the tail as well to get as much air out as possible.
  9. On a side note, I've always wondered what the point in flying a tracking suit was. It just seems like a lower performance version of a wingsuit. Granted, I've only done a few tracking suit jumps and they were done with the intent of getting ready for wingsuiting, but I've always wondered, if you like tracking suits enough to buy one, why not just get a wingsuit? The people I've seen with them also do BASE. Not saying that only basejumpers use them bit it seems to be a common theme
  10. Agreed. I would think its closer to 5% and that's being generous. I've been seeing more tracksuits lately as well
  11. Quick google search says that's a 5 1/2hr drive. Not exactly closeby
  12. You were not there, not knowing me, but you're pretty sure that I have exhibited bad judgement in the past. WOW! He's judging by what he sees here. You typed a lot of I didn't know and I thought in your previous posts. also your posts almost seems like you want to make it out to be not your fault. A lot of excuses when you know the rules (dropzone and FAA rules) with that being said everyone here has accidentally done something dumb and/or dangerous while jumping. The ones that own up to it usually learn from it and move on. Others try to find a way to make it not completely their fault to keep their ego up. That attitude there doesn't come from jumping and they don't learn much. Heres an example Im sitting at a red light with my truck. Someone texting rear ended me with their car. They try to say the damage wouldn't have been so bad in my hitch didn't punch a hole in the radiator, when it wouldn't have been there in the first place if they were paying attention and stopped in time. See how that works? They're indirectly blaming me for having my hitch on. Later they will be talking with their friends saying it wasn't that bad except he had his hitch on and that really tore my car up. They made a big mistake and made it look smaller in their mind so it's not a big deal. If it's not a big deal they don't have much incentive to learn from it. In your case from what I've seen written, you have (1) disregarded what was below you before you jumped (2) miscommunicated the jump lights and (3) miscommunicated a signal to close the door Instead of just owning up to it and asking for advice on how to be better next time, you only seem interested in knowing how long your punishment should "really" last, then you were defending your bad decisions trying to save face, and in the post I quoted you are "poking the bear" which has no way of helping you improve your ability. Try not to see this as an attack but as an outside person looking in. I'm trying to help but the your attitude or way of thinking and interpreting thing need to change if you want to survive. Slow down your thought process and take time to go through what happened one second at a time. You know what you were thinking at the time but do you know why? Was there something else you should have been thinking about or doing? What were you feeling at that time? What can I do differently next time I'm in a similar situation? I'm not asking you to answer this to me, just for yourself. You are your worse enemy but it helps to learn as much as you can about yourself. It's hard to look at ones own faults and call them what they are. Knowing them is a small part of the battle
  13. What could happen to the pilot? Will the pilot get a warning? FAA fines for you and the pilot is a possibility. If the pilot continues to allow jumper to go through clouds they can lose their license. Banned from what? Exited from what? What lights? A few guys exited first and when it turned to me the green light switched to the red because of the clouds. About 90 sec later the red light turned off and I was supposed to close the door but I thought the light was broken so I exited. Also when red off the guy by the exit door pointed at the door wanted to me helping to close the door. But I completely misunderstood I thought he's giving me a good to go gesture so I just gone. BTW The airplane was level flight with reduced power and airspeed and flaps. Good thing the red light was because of clouds and not because of a plane flying below you.
  14. The pilot can refuse to fly him if he wants. Its his pilots license not the jumper
  15. Methhead pumps gas up her butt http://cbsnews10.com/erie-pennsylvania-woman-high-on-meth-dies-after-pumping-gasoline-into-her-anus/
  16. So, we should or should not dick around with our canopies? Tough question but one thing to think about is where some of the sweat comes from when you lay on your canopy.
  17. I rolled the nose on my sabre1 to keep it from opening so hard. It seems to stand me up first then open firmly in about 450 feet verses a semi-hard opening in one motion to the point of my feet being eye level in front of me for about 200 feet. I do have a pocket slider for it as well. Rolling the nose on my sabre2 is unnecessary. The nose opening are smaller and doesn't fill as quickly and it opens between 6-800 feet
  18. I just had money ready and waited until something came up. Something in the size you are looking for isn't going show up often though. You may be better off posting a Want To Buy (WTB) post to get people to look in their closets. Another option is to buy a new container that fits you properly and go with used canopies. This was the route I was getting ready to go before I found something.
  19. In the description it says it was a hard pull and not a pilot chute in tow. In this case he had nothing out to chop
  20. I repeated cat B twice a few years ago. Not uncommon but yes the money part sucks. First time I mistaken the legs out signal for the pull signal (I only saw the index finger) and pulled at 9,000 feet. Second time was a month later and I was stiff as a board, little to no arch, arms too far forward, ect. I can add more to this later but I need to get back to work
  21. I used the search under articles instead of forums and this is the first one I found. There was more under this one http://www.dropzone.com/safety/Exit/The_6_Laws_of_Exit_Order_You_Really_Need_to_Know_1200.html
  22. Is there a way to have the first few post of a new member to need approval of an admin or moderator? I know it will mean more work on their part but right now there is 501 post for pharmaceutical and other random crap posted by one user today. The Disabled Skydiver section starts on page 20. If you have that ability I know it may not be what you want to do but thats a lot of work to get rid of all that junk. Downside is you might chase off new members so maybe a daily post limit until there's some sort of confirmation that they are actually a skydiver or wanting to be. It's just frustrating to have to search through all the garbage. any other ideas?
  23. These skills you'll need sooner rather than later anyway. Getting back to "stability" after a maneuver is more valuable to me than just holding it
  24. After 24 hours of tunnel time, do they even remember how to fly on their belly? I'm sure that had a little weight in that decision anyway.
