  1. Skydiving helmets in general are not a good choice for real head protection. I'm surprised to see them in the olympics. http://www.exitshot.com
  2. Conceptus has great customer service. Definitely a factor in my decisions. I sometimes use a small water balloon over the switch, rubber-banded for a cheap seal. This temporary waterproof seal will elongate the life of a bite/tongue switch and is easily replaceable. http://www.exitshot.com
  3. Yeah, I was going to give the switch a try, actually, until the uncool ad was posted on my page. Now I will intentionally not try it. http://www.exitshot.com
  4. You work for them. no offense meant to the original poster but this would be my opinion as well... or you are at the very least are sponsored by them... Is this the same guy that posted an ad on my facebook page? that was not cool. http://www.exitshot.com
  5. I would pay for a copy of that too, actually. Let me know if you have any luck finding a copy. Thanks http://www.exitshot.com
  6. The only difference between "College Algebra" and "Algebra" is the word "College". Definitely recommend a tutor, once/week, it's very effective. I tutor a lot of high school and college students, some of which are in their 40's. I'm still baffled by the guy at the UPS store who couldn't handle it when I gave him $55.13 cash for a $51.13 total, because I obviously didn't have any 1's. It took him 5 minutes to "make" change and he needed the help of the assistant manager. Seriously. http://www.exitshot.com
  7. I used Shutterfly Pro for 4 years and switched to SmugMug about 8 months ago. There were several glaring issues that Shutterfly did not address. I emailed the Pro gallery manager at Shutterfly asking if they planned to upgrade or improve the user interface of the site, and got a reply of basically "no". The most important thing to me is cropping. On shutterfly, the customer had no choice or control over cropping. I had many customers not understanding how the preview function shows the final print cropping, and ended up with formation photos with people cut off. I ended up cropping and saving single images in 3 different aspect ratios so the automatic crop wouldn't ruin the photo. Or, I had to leave so much dead space around the image that it didn't matter how it was cropped. Also, this meant I had to put my name several inches in from the edge of the image to assure it wasn't cropped in half... SmugMug shows the cropping at checkout and allows users to move the crop box, scale it or choose "none" for cropping, which assures the entire image is printed (with possibly unexposed white strips above and below the image if necessary). SmugMug also offers far more print sizes, odd sizes, and other products. (Almost too many) Shutterfly has an obvious brand identity on your pro site, and all pro sites look the same. SmugMug has several option for gallery style and allows the Pro gallery owner to take off all SmugMug branding and upload their own logo. I also prefer the options for viewing on SmugMug over Shutterfly. Users can see larger previews of the images and the slideshow is better. I was happy with the quality of prints from Shutterfly and the photobooks. I made many photo books for gifts. I think Shutterfly was one of the first to offer photobooks, now, everyone does, even Walgreens. I looked into Printroom and a couple other sites, but they too did not handle the cropping issue as well as SmugMug. Go SmugMug. http://www.exitshot.com
  8. Tony Larry & Josh's group from yesterday (Friday). http://www.exitshot.com
  9. Thanks Chris. I miss you guys. You were my first photo published in Parachutist. "Stick with me, I'll make you famous" http://www.exitshot.com
  10. I can't keep up with this thread, so if this was brought up before, sorry. But, does anyone remember the BIC? http://www.exitshot.com
  11. Yeah! Thank you DSE and everyone. Great contest idea. Maybe it should be an annual thing, with or without a prize. It's fun to see all the great photos and all the funny student faces. http://www.exitshot.com
  12. I love Everest. I watched the original series a couple years ago. The next year, just before season 2 aired, this big guy came to the dz to do AFF... I was reserve side, sitting across from him in the plane, and I said to the other instructor, "Have you seen that show 'Everest', he looks just like the biker guy from that show." And the big guy just grinned. "That is you?" and he just kept grinning... Tim didn't summit the first season, was too low on Oxygen around the Hillary step, and had to turn back. He went on to tell me that season 2 was about to air and he made it to the summit this time. I was genuinely impressed. Tim had broken his back in a bad motorcycle accident, and like many other climbers they spotlight on the show, was told he wouldn't be able to climb Everest. Which that of course gave him the idea to do it. Anyway, I watched those 3 episodes they aired from Season 3, they were okay. I like the previous seasons better. Season 3 seems to cram a couple climbers entire story and summit bid all into 1 episode. It's too short. I liked the previous season where they developed the personal stories of each climber and their journey to get to Everest, acclimate, and attempt the summit over the course of 6 or 7 episodes. There's also less coverage of the sherpas in this season. The Sherpas are the real human phenomenon. I would rather see more of what the sherpas do and hear their story. Anyway, great show. http://www.exitshot.com
  13. The Wallace and Gromit face still makes me laugh... She did actually untie my shoelaces before taking my shoe off. I guess I should have told her just to pull it off. I was laughing in freefall while she was untying it. There's a whole series of butt-grab shots from that exit... http://www.exitshot.com
  14. Yes, I got it back 99% of the time. I used to have them do it a lot. I've done it at least 100 times... I always had really worn out shoes, so wasn't too worried about it. Notice the hole in my toe of the previous photo. But then I lost one, then another one, and I was done with that game. Not to mention, landing downwind in the dirt, on a 78 with my camera helmet and a weight belt, one time made me realize it'd be nice to have both shoes. I never was very good at slalom skiing. Sometimes the instructor would grab me and take it while the student was oblivious. That was pretty funny. He'd hand it to the student after opening, saying, "Here hold this." http://www.exitshot.com
  15. Since we won't be sued... http://www.exitshot.com
  16. Jimmy Pouchert and Marta Empinotti Jimmy and Claire Halliday and I think at least one other BASE jumping couple got engaged at the Go Fast games a few years ago. Dave & Karleen... http://www.exitshot.com
  17. Perfect! Thanks DSE. That's what I did... just wondering if they were going to have trouble importing them. Good to know. http://www.exitshot.com
  18. Sorry if this has been covered and I missed it. What's the best way to give raw footage, AVCHD (from cx100) to customers? Assuming they do not have a jump drive, hard drive or their own laptop to capture footage? Can you just copy the .mts files? Thanks! http://www.exitshot.com
  19. Xaos-21 for best openings. I jump my wingsuit with it. Xaos-27 is not far behind, but tends to have a bit more shake to it. It's a bit more aggressive and fun to swoop than the 21. I have thousands of camera jumps on both. Sensei also opens really nice, on heading, a bit quicker than either Xaos, but not hard. I put 10 jumps on a demo 81 Sensei. The Sensei's recovery arc was significantly shorter than both Xaos's. I did have a few toggle-fires and was easily able to use harness to keep it from spinning until i fixed it. I prefer the long aggressive dive, so I currently jump Xaos-27's and don't worry about my cameras. I've also jumped Velo's and VX's. I have not jumped a JVX, Neos or FX. http://www.exitshot.com
  20. Not true... Tanya and Craig O'Brien are doing just fine and have two beautiful little girls. http://www.exitshot.com
  21. Thank you very much. That means a lot to me, especially from you. http://www.exitshot.com
  22. Gotcha. Thank you. That was the bit I missed from the first post. I still use manual with video camera. Thank you. http://www.exitshot.com
