  1. Well, after posting my vent I was absolutely floored by a couple of you folks. After some back and forth in PM here, talking with Chutingstar, and checking fit with Wings, I'm getting to borrow a main until mine is completed. I'm not going to name them unless I'm told it's ok, but you know who you are and I can not express my thanks enough. I can happily say that I picked up my rig, complete with borrowed main, a few hours ago. It looks epic, fits like a dream, and I can't freaking wait to go jump tomorrow. If you can't convince them, keep them confused.
  2. I ordered a wings in december, they still show a 6-7 week delivery on their website and met that. I'll pick it up later this week. If you can't convince them, keep them confused.
  3. I've been surfing the different websites trying to figure out who else makes a 260, and what their turnaround would be if I cancelled and sent my money elsewhere. I'd just started checking stock lists and looking for demo request forms when duty called and I had to do some work. If you can't convince them, keep them confused.
  4. I'm not sure how well a 290 would fit into a wings container instead of the 260 it's sized for. I've been told wings run a little tight in the pack tray. If you can't convince them, keep them confused.
  5. We've already asked and the manufacturer doesn't have a demo I can use, it doesn't help that I'm a bigger girl on a light wingload. I have my heart set on the design I had planned and it'll match my container (I went full retard). Besides, none of the other manufacturer's websites I've checked this afternoon have any stock in the size I need. If you can't convince them, keep them confused.
  6. Super common question The name came from a bumper sticker on the casting wall of the haunted house I've worked for. A tisket, a tasket, another nail in your casket. If you can't convince them, keep them confused.
  7. Just need to vent to folks that will actually understand. Ordered all new gear and was told my main would be completed the end of January (withholding dates and manufacturer on purpose). Here we are, over a week beyond the projected completion date and the awesome folks over at Chutingstar call the manufacturer to see when the main will be shipped and learn it hasn't even been finished yet. No, they aren't simply running a little behind... Stuff happens, which I understand, and they had to reject an entire roll of material. The problem is that nobody bothered to tell us! Seriously? How can you not even bother to tell someone who just dropped that much money on your product that you can't finish it for possibly 2 more months?? So here I am, with every other piece of a complete, brand new rig that will actually fit me sitting at Chutingstar, completely unusable. I just want my damn gear. If you can't convince them, keep them confused.
  8. This is the stuff that's carried on all the firetrucks in my department. Works wonders for stopping a leak onscene but I've never needed to be concerned with a longterm patch. I'd still recommend it even if just to get you by until you have the time to drop the tank and fix it properly or (as others have mentioned) just replace it. http://www.plugndike.com/ If you can't convince them, keep them confused.
  9. Glittered my boyfriend's work keyboard over 4 years ago and he still uses it to this day. You folks need to catch up! If you can't convince them, keep them confused.
  10. Fellatio and cunnilingus have been performed at the same time in numerous occasions, I don't know if they have been done on a skydive. There must be a reason free-flyers developed both head-down and head-up flying. They are too busy messing with their cameras to think about airborn 69 What exactly does any of this have to do with answering my question? If you can't convince them, keep them confused.
  11. Been there, done that. It's one of the reasons I now go to a dentist that deals with patients with high anxiety. So, add dry socket to the list. How soon after diagnosis of a dry socket after an extraction would the average person be cleared to skydive? If you can't convince them, keep them confused.
  12. One of the questions we ask (especially newbies like me) is "have you had any recent dental work?" I have braces, so the answer is technically yes since I change trays every other week and my teeth are constantly moving. Thankfully, I've yet to have any pain or problems from combining braces and skydiving. So, what really counts as dental work, and how soon is too soon after the work to resume skydiving? For example, a filling, root canal, tooth extraction, deep cleaning. Thoughts/experiences? If you can't convince them, keep them confused.
  13. I dunno... Some folks have a pretty severe case of selective deafness. If you can't convince them, keep them confused.
  14. I'm with you on this one. My reserve ride wasn't on a raven, but I was most definitely at terminal and within the recommended limits of the reserve. It was fast as hell but I just wanted good looking fabric over my head...and pronto! The next few days I was sore but it sure beat the alternative. If you can't convince them, keep them confused.
  15. I heard this on the radio this morning, and thought I hadn't heard correctly. That's one helluva misfeed, especially for a 9mm. If you can't convince them, keep them confused.
  16. This has me livid. Some shitstain in Jacksonville, FL shot at a group of firemen that were fueling a truck. I guarantee all they saw was the uniform. http://m.actionnewsjax.com/news/news/local/reports-jacksonville-fire-station-shot-firefighter/njZTn/#__federated=1 I get it, some people really hate the PoPo. At least they have some reason to validate murder in their little world (not that I agree with it), cops ruin people's days. What do firemen do to the public? Oh, that's right. We pick your granny up off the floor at 3am, treat your injuries, call our buddies in EMS to give you a ride to the ER, or try to stop fire from destroying your property. What is wrong with people?? If you can't convince them, keep them confused.
  17. No doubt, I prefer knowing exactly what my gear has been through. Plus, having my own gear will make visiting other DZs and attending boogies that much easier. Rental gear is a wonderful thing, getting bruised from the gear because of poor fit (the harness is too wide across the shoulders) just gets old fast. If you can't convince them, keep them confused.
  18. Not gonna put up any pictures until I have it in my grubby little hands in 6-8 weeks, but I bit the bullet this week and have officially ordered my first rig. Been watching the classifieds for 3 months and only 1 rig that would come close to fitting has come up. The seller went silent when I asked about having it sent to my DZ so my rigger could inspect it and I'm not buying something like that sight unseen. So I decided screw it, if I'm going to spend this much money, why not spend a little more and get custom? My wallet hurts something fierce though... If you can't convince them, keep them confused.

  20. I'm still a newbie to skydiving but I've been making costumes for fun the last few years. Found this Juki DDL-555 for all of $200, dropped everything and drove 2 hours to go pick it up from NE Chattanooga. I'd like to learn more about rigging now that I'm hooked on skydiving, how much of a handicap is it to not have a walking foot machine? If you can't convince them, keep them confused.
  21. I agree completely. I can't help but wonder if the crosswinds are so severe (and from the looks of it, common), why aren't there runways on a different heading? Either way, that place is on the list of nopes. If you can't convince them, keep them confused.
  22. More like - It's nothing short of a miracle that none of these pilots needed a change of pants I sure wouldn't want to be behind the controls at that place. If you can't convince them, keep them confused.
  23. I've been chatting with instructors, coaches, and the other highly experienced folks at my DZ and have gotten mixed opinions. I've made up my mind to wait until I have 50 jumps to try them out, plus the jumpsuit I have will need to be altered to shorten the booties before I can use them anyways. I'm just curious what others think and their personal opinions on the subject at this point. I can definitely see booties bringing any symmetry and positional issues into focus. If you can't convince them, keep them confused.
  24. I fly with those no matter what, I'm a little attached to them If you can't convince them, keep them confused.
  25. 14 jumps under my belt so far and I have a new-to-me jumpsuit with booties. I've been tucking the booties up both because they're way too long and because I want to learn to fly myself without relying on gear first. My choice is to wait until I have 50 jumps, then try them out for a few jumps and decide which way I want to go regarding using them or not. Some folks say what I'm doing is right. Learn to fly myself before adding anything extra. Then, it'll be adding a new skillset when I decide to start learning to fly with booties, but I'll be competent enough to not need them. Other folks say that once I learn booties I'll have to unlearn bad habits I've picked up without them. What are your opinions about newbies using booties? For it, against it, what's your reasoning? If you can't convince them, keep them confused.
