Sounds like a good plan.... I think though that you will feel like spending a week in Fiji on the beach with some hot babe though after your tour from hell is over...Then maybe you will feel like jumping.... When i got back i surfed everyday for a month.... And yes you will know when you are ready...but really wont know untill you feet are on the edge... As for stability... you have never exited in that enviorment and if you blow your exit ...tracking wont help you.... as for landing...try flying a seven cell and landing on a tea cup.... They already are...by telling you to wait....Patience is a virtue...and a really good quality to have in the base world... You can also take this quality to Iraq with you ... I dont see any rush for you to base as you will need your full and undivided concentration where you are going... I to have been bit by the base bug and thought i never would. I spent three years in the military sneaking around in the night and when i got out this was furthest from my mind. I enjoy skydiving as it relaxes me... as now i have big wall base fantasies...but i am not in a big hurry. The more you research the more you will slowdown.... Most people on this board will tell you...The objects will always be here...no reason to rush... This is not a sport to be self taught..as being a astronaut is not.... The safest way possible to learn this is to pay attention and keep your ass alive over there ...and when you get back start jumping your ass off and when you think you are ready...post this question again...... You are the best suit......It's not the suit but the suiter...... In superterminal they mostly are wearing cargo pants and windbreakers with bungie cords... i am building a setup now that i will be trying out at the dropzone soon and will post about it. i can tell you that there suits are made for extremely fast tracking...Ie...you need speed as to get them to work for them to perform. i dont think that for the Valley they would be the right choice as the drops are not as high as in Norway. I am no expert at all in base tracking as well as tracking in the dz enviorment but i use to do allot of tracking dives and was always up front..... I will though be flying them at the dz. There is a video on the :www.Pressurized.at. (see vids on site). and you can see That tracking suit in a jump in The valley at the end of the video. I to am hooked on tracking and will be curious what technoligy will be out next year No doubt be a shocker.... just my 2 cents..... Chris In the end...the universe has a way of working itself out.... I would have to agree.....It's the only reason i got intrested in base by watching him... very inspiring.... and then came "VKB"...... Jaap, You are being to hard on yourself.... Luck is a tricky thing..You never know who has it and when it's not available.... Look at the Girl who on her first tandem ride went in with her instructer.... luck was not available.... who's to say , when where, how.....It's like predicting the future....you cant and will crazy trying to... as for you jumps per incidents...thats also all predicting... first jump ....you had no control over unless you count hucking yourself off the bridge....that you had control over... secound and third...you hucked yourself off the objects so you made the decision.... The forth, well i would have done a bit of skysurfing first to get what it feels like controlwise... If you saw the Fottage of Dave Barlia jumping a snowboard off Kjreg...He had one jump where he went head low and had to forward flip to regain control. He also had one which he cut away the board...again headlow and lower with no time for forward flip. I can send you the fottage on dvd if you want... You are trying to hard to come up with answers that will make know difference about your own fate... You could quit today and die tomarrow driving to starbucks after being hit by a guy who survived a heart attack because of the great surgen who operated on him...The surgen lived threw 2 days stuck at the summit of everest in 96. By the way, the surgens father survived a airline crash and was one of 2 survivers out of 240..... It really doesn't matter. You prepaired the best you could , you did your homework and weighed the options...you can only do so much when it's just time to do it or walk away... either choice is smart either choice is nobel... You seem to have a pretty good grasp on what you are doing so why try to fight it...Just continue and enjoy it and walk away when you feel it's taken you as far as you want to go.... as for the post impact.....get back on the bike and start ridding again..
