  1. I've been looking at the classified for Complete container Systems and need some good insight to help plan for buying my first rig. So what IS the general rule of thumb for choosing a reserve size in comparasion to the size of the Main Parachute that you'll be using? I want to seriously start getting my first rig... I will be buying a 190 Main(don't know what type, tho)- and would like the good all-round purpose Wings container... Thanx LuLu.
  2. I joined up with a newly formed S & R group, West Central Michigan Search And Rescue. It was just formed in Feb. And is associated with West Central Mich.'s S & R group but to cover the general Cntral Michigan area... We need to get all of our own gear. Where should I start to find good deals on GPS, AND compasses, rigging for climbing/descending, "hiking-stick" etc. etc.... ALL and ANY helpful info would be great! -LuLu.
  3. Initially the folks thought it was amusing, but when I continued they acted like they were disgusted with my "waste of time and money." My Dad's no longer living, both he and (now) Mom eventually came to accept it, and Mom has come to begrudgingly admire me for it- altho she won't admit it! My brothers and sisters are split in how they regard me for what I enjoy to do "outa a perfectly good aeroplane"
  4. Thanx Mark & LO, too, for the jump money making tips. Last year was a bad money making year! It was one thing after another! My life seemed ruled by "Murphy's Law". I think this will be a better jumping year for me. Hopefully I'll be able to do more than my usual one or two (three if I was really lucky) jumps a weekend. I'll have to see what I can come up with I guess to get me in the air more. Blues!
  5. Good tips. Thanx. Talked to DZO late in the season last year, know some of whats goin on thats influencing him. Just need to take the rest of your tips and strting thinking towards when that tme arrives to move on I guess.
  6. But believe it or not, this sport is for everybody. Whether I make one jump on a paycheck or one hundred a month, I am still wanting to skydive. There are many of us skydivers who aren't rich, yet still do what we can when we can to get in the air.
  7. I ain't no dude... I'm a divorced MOM. Don't get me wrong, I do like skydiving, but at this point in my life even though I AM a bit of a thrill seeker, I can't afford to jump that much or buy gear, either. But still, I want to be able to jump when I can.
  8. Iguess there's some buzz going round that my DZO might throw in the towel with running the dz that I've gone to for the last couple of years. I'm not sure what to do about jumping this year, or how to find out what's going on. What do you all advise? I apprecaite your input. Blues - L.
  9. Yep. I actually got just one, BIG mistake, got it done when I was in AIT School in the Army, snuck off base and had a taxi driver someone to get a tattoo... Needless to say, it wasn't the best place, was badly done, and thankfully not in a highly visible place.
  10. Nobody lives in a vaacuum dude. Ever work in a factory? how 'bout an office with cubicles? Same kinda crap. REALLY. Probably just stupid human nature in general. RIGHT? Get over it... Be positive influence and don't sweat the small stuff. When drama happens in others- or my/your?- life, ya gotta decide to have some measure of self-respect, let others do their own thing, and get on with doing what ya came there for in the first place. Just need to keep some perspective and just let somethings go. Healthier this way, really. Just my $.02 worth.
  11. Heya. Got your PM, sorry fella, I'm not the Lulululu that you're thinking of...but I always enjoy good skydiving footage, too! Blues! -LuLu
  12. Yep. AggieDave's got a point. Cyber harrassment is definitely NO FUN! Unfortunately had some experience with this in the past myself. Think I might go make my profile more incognito now...
  13. BUTTERFLIES do flips in my stomach as I suit up with my (rental) rig and wait for my load... "DOOR" really gets my pulse up and my eyes probably are dialiting....it is SO THRILLING AND EXCITING knowing what's coming up...the anticipation is intoxicating.... AFTERWARDS it seems to take forever for THE ADRENILINE BUZZ to wear off enough AFTER a Jump for my hands to stop shaking enough to write in my log book. "This" is addicting! It really puzzles me, that skydiving doesn't affect everyone this way.. Some people addapt to the sensations fairly quickly, and some never really seem to get a "rise" out of it even in the beginning. SKYDIVING is my passion...-LuLu.
  14. Yah, You are absolutely right! I HAVE only jumped outa cessnas so far & at fairly small dzs. I've neverhad to contend with lots of jumpers or canopies all around. SO I think I probably should go first few times with people I know & who will kinda take me under their wing so to speak & let me know whatsup and what to watch out for ,etc.
  15. I just renewed my "A" for the 2nd year. Wanna jump lots more this year- & seriously planning to get rig & gear with tax return $. So to look forwards, Tell me, am I pretty limited in which boogies I can go to & jump at? How about going to jump at other DZs? THANX! -LiLa.
  16. Yah, it hurts, put not REALLY bad. The PA asked me HOW MUCH PAIN I was in, and he gave me the weirdest smile when I told him, Oh it does HURT, but that was kinda relative... I seem to be dealing with some level of pain ALL THE TIME. Due to old injuries, accident and the lingering results, ya know? GOOD TIP: He told me, when this happens again(!), sometimes laying on back with a tennis ball underneath me, lifting up neck and headwhile I do this, roll the ball around beneath me, this could help to "pop" them back into place. Thanx Birdwoman & AggieDave. Blues! -LiLa
  17. Anybody know about this kinda thing???? I knew I hurt myself at work last friday, but after I couldn't "stretch" out the pain and stiffness over the weekend, I went to my Dr's. Dr. office told me, I detached rib heads on my spine. At least 3 on one side 2 on the other. I got "adjusted" a bit, But I AM gonna follow up with my chiroprator on Friday. I'm gonna be taking a muscle relaxer tonight and taking it easy at work for a few days... I wanna make a jump this weekend...Should everything be okay? What should I ask my chiroprator about this? Thanx ya'all. Gotta go, but will check responses tomorrow. Blues! -LiLa.
  18. RYAN you REALLY need to use a PM for ph#s! YOU KNOW! AND have you ever gotten around to gettingyour A? "LuLu" PS KIY Where you been hiding? Is Ry still jumping or did she quit?
  19. ALEX very good posts. thanx for your experiencial words of insight. Our society is in general sex obsessed and the fall out is very complex. so many issues regarding roleplay, identities and the internet make realities and truth so surreal and blurry. We all can learn from each others perspectives can't we?
  20. Trying to be objective. The 80's were wild for me but I did finally get myself straightened out...So I understand the nature of obsessions and addictions. I just need to get some perspective and find out the details to sort out what been going on and the real nature of what all this crap is that this dude has gotten himself wrapped up in. But YES I KNOW this is really bad.
  21. this is relly a crappy thing to have someone you know do to anybody, ya know? We are very privately trying to deal withthe horrible fall out right now. Only three in the family know, and I am the one trying to hold it all together for them all.
  22. he's computer tech guy in between jobs right now... NO IDEA how this all got started tho. Reason I care at all about him is he is family.
  23. Heya. Bad news...'somebody' Close to my heart got really wrapped up in all that internet chat leads to meet ya & etc. crap and with a individual who STATED that they WERE A MINOR. IT WAS A POLICE STING. As soon as he showed up at the agreed apon place, he was busted. I guess he's had a work place sexual harrassment charge against him a handfulof years ago...those can be iffy depending on the person and situation, ya know? But he's never been in any legal trouble ever before. What should we all be expecting to happen to him? He's going to court on Monday. Nobody is really 'there' for him, and he's way out of state, but since I've known him, like forever, I may make that long road trip to visit him... any insight that anyone can give is greatly appreciated. thanx - LuLu.
  24. Thanx Terry! Ya, I think I roughed him up a bit too. He said he'd got a few bruises from that jump! I was surprised at how different the factors of moving in the air are when gripped onto someone else! But it was FUN! I wanna do some more of that.
