  1. Last year had hoped to push thru training to get my A in one summer...But not so far... AND- I'VE ONLY JUMPED OUT OF 182s. I'm looking to train at another DZ this summer... What's it like jumping out other types of planes??? TELL ME ABOUT YOUR EXPERIENCES - PRO and CON -
  2. Thanx M- for your take on the flick...and by the way WHAT IS a "SKYBALL"? Anyways?
  3. Hiya Q- Yeah, I think I may have seen that one, but it's looking like I'm gonna watch that one again...But from a different perspective view. COOL!
  4. Since last fall I've been trying to watch movies with skydiving stunts in them to keep me pysched about jumping, since I can't jump in the winter. So far, I haven't jumped this year yet. I hope to get with it soon- figure out how to come up with the cash and get after it with a move to different DZ- and start working towards my "A" (again)! Do you know of some good movies to inspire me on? ALSO: I've only jumped out 182s so far. Tell me what it's like, PRO and CON jumping out other types of planes that are often available at training DZs. THANX everybody for encouraging this lady, who's STILL on student-status!
  5. Hmmm... Funny! Yeah, I suppose I have posted just to post - -But MOSTLY just to see how people will interact with me. Ya know what I mean?!? I tend to be - JUST CURIOUS!
  6. HEY! Can't get thru to your website for info. Are you guys open now? I really want to get current and start training towards my "A" there. Do I need to make arrangements in advance to get in ground class and a tandem, or can I just drive on over from BR where I live???? I'm getting anxious to jump! Hey thanx alot for answering back to me!
  7. Thanks Canuck! You're too far away. But I do appreciate the helpful info and others take on the subject though. I'm just in the initial PLANNING stages. I think that it won't be out of reach for me financially to fly a couple of times a month. And there is a local flight club that shares in the expenses of a plane so people can get their hours in. The costs for instruction here are not too high either. Have you been able to get in jumps this winter? AND how long have you been flying??
  8. Yes, It's expensive in the long run. Lots of things are. I'm looking at taking my time. But it would be awesome to get up there and DO learn how to do this. Some good things are worth taking your time and committing to learn to do even if it take a while to get there. Don't ya think so? Personally my outlook on life's experiences is this "The JOY is in the journey not just the final distination."
  9. It is a bummer to think about, but it really should be considered. My 7-year-old shook me up a bit by asking me that very question just a couple of weeks ago. I had just picked her up after her weekend visit with her Dad and was talking to her about Spring and plans for things to do when the weather was warmer. My nephew skydives, and I'm working thru AFF... I was talking to her about looking forward to a good possiblity of getting a group of us from my family and friends to jump on the same day. My daughter had seen tandem jumps coming into land before, and has seen me safely and gently come into land tandem too. So when she said, "What if you get killed, Mom?" It really shook me coming from my little girl... made me stop and think hard about it. Like I've said before, I am still in AFF. One thing is for certain, I'm really gonna take a lot of care in learning to pack well and carefully. Seems like most problems come from malfunctions due to packing problems or bad swoops/landings. jSo for me, I'm gonna train well to be skilled and not try to deliberately do risky manuevers. Let's DO Have fun - And Try to Keep it safe.
  10. Wow... Thanks for your in-put. Interesting... First to get my Class A, anyways. But I am checking into flying lessons here, now. ONLY $49.00 for the Intro. lesson. When I DO have my licences, AND find a Home DZ, I'll talk to the Safety and DZO there to think /talk about future potetntil opp.s! HEY, I LIKE TO DREAM BIG!
  11. I'm still AFF...But ALSO seriously thinking about taking airplane flying lessons as well! Winter, cold, unable to jump for months yet, unable to travel to warmer climes...But flying lessons at my local airport would get me into the sky sooner in the cold months (and maybe even more often?)... AFTER LEARNING TO FLY and then licensing, what more training is necessary to fly jump planes????
  12. MICHIGAN... But no "home" DZ yet!
  13. Hiya up in "the Great White North" from a Midwestern gal! Are you in the midst of a long cold snap too??? It's been a long time since I've posted the last time...But I'm gettin' antsy for jump season to open up again, and needed to connect with/about skydiving again. Ya know what I mean
  14. ...and WHERE exactly IS "YOUR" DZ? Please...?
  15. Mr. Hum T. Dumpty's demise: tragic accident or sabotage? Possible conspiracy therories or egg-cellent questions anyone? Hmmm?
  16. Hi, Steve! Sorry the weather in the skies isn't as sweet as the air temperature is! I'm a Michigan gal who's working her way thru AFF. I eally was so hopeful for the weather yesterday! I even called up a DZ and talked about maybe paying for a spot on a plane to check out the drop zone even though I CAN'T AFFORD TO JUMP RIGHT NOW... Hey, does anybody know of different DZs HERE that will allow you to pay for a spot on a plane if you DO NOT INTEND TO JUMP? I'm curious to check out the DZs from above, just for the fun of it. I may end up needing to split the cost of renting a plane with a pilot friend otherwise. Either way, it would still be cool to do...Especially since, really not many more good weather opportunities to jump left this year here in Michigan.
  17. Hey Speedy! Thanx for sharing that article! I miss the news so often that I'm usually way behind on knowing updates & what's going on. I really appreciate it.
  18. VEry good tip about the glucosomine & Condroton. Sorry about the spelling! I've heard some REALLY good results from people who've taken those, inaddition to my experience, too, but I haven't taken those in quite a while... AND in my humble opinion: you really need to take them as advised and for about 6 weeks or before you start seeing good results from using them. Well...that's just my $.02 worth anyhow.
  19. Hi, Bob and Ann! And Welcome to DZ.com family of mixed mutts! Where are you located in Michigan? There are Michigan folks that regularily post here
