  7. can someone tell me how to find the first post ever on dropzone.com? thanks,
  8. you will soon click and realise never to say the word "first" it is always your second time....never first. It can get expensive, but what goes around...comes around(sometimes). I went to a new dz.....first jump at the dz, first jump out of a porter or turbine, first off dz landing, first 8 way. I think i still owe beer, it was a bloddy good night though! .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  9. hanging off the door of a c-182 by my risers. Door handle ended up breaking in the middle so let me go and then, had a bit of work removing lines that were wrapped around my arm, All good though, learnt a valuable leason as well. Jump number 67. Got straight back up when my reserve was repacked and another cut away staright away. Turns out it was n ot needed and i think i must have been fixated on my reserve. .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  10. I am not a fan of any camera but the sony range, and there i can be fussy. I do not know anyone who jumps a panasonic, and i think sony has proved themselves to the industry. You should stay with sony as there are many skydivers that will always be able to help you with it. I am in the U.K. so my bookmarks will be no good for you. At the moment though there are stores in the U.K that are selling the pc-105 for under 800u.s. dollars if this is any help to you. .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  11. Quote Could this system be changed? You can always buy soda or pizzas or nothing. I doubt very much that the ritual can be changed though, it has become a part of dropzone life. there is a great thread in length about this that will make you think many ways, but you need to do a search. The whole 'first time' rule, is world wide and is a growing force, .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  12. I have my issues with this course but in all fairness, the people who do this course and turn up everyday and put there all into it, well it is really paying off for them. None of them are guaranteed a slot. they do work experience, working three months, generally as a packer for free!, then if this dropzone hires them they can proggress forward. no one on this course just gets a camera slot. Before the course is over though they are studying full time camera jumping...for tandems. In new zealand for only having about 300 jumpers in the country, the country is probably producing around 600-800 tandem skydives a day( on a good day). The people i know that have gone on to become camera jumpers, and now tandem masters and aff instructors, from this course all deserve what they have achieved. This course is not for everyone but the people that commit to it have a good chance at becoming a good commercial skydiver. Blue skies. .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  13. i am in the uk but am from new zealand. I have just purchased through my dealer in new zealand. Without any dicounts for 4000pounds i got Camera helmet, stills camera, newtown site ring Custom made wings, all options(nearly). Custom made sabre-2 150 and pd 146 reserve, i rel work suit, one freefly suit, a pro track, an alti2, All and postage from the states to nz for £4000. I think if you are spending 3000quid to get the same gear as everyone else because there is a discount...well i belive you will find a better deal for exactly what you want when you want it. You will always find good prices out there and most rig manufactures will offer a deal each month. Wait until you are ready and know what you really want. .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  14. i would give the dvd camera another year at least until it hits the standard we need. The pc 105 is a good camera(sony) you will find it is really coming down in price at the moment as well and the standard battery life is around 100minutes without the lcd screen being open. Good luck in finding what you need but dont be letting a camera sales man tell you what you need. .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  15. i am not much of a swooper as i have not put the time in to learn this art, but putting it down to skygod mentalitty i think is rubbish. You know when you are freefalling and you pull off an excellent point or dock, well you are super stoked, I see swoopers as people that just show their style in front of you because they are landing and this is a disciplin. I think if you look at it wrong you will see an attitude but if you look at it right you will see the adrenaline coming out in them after they have pulled off a super cool swoop. Is this not the attitude we are meant to have, After all we are jumping out of planes and it never hurts to be proud of what you accomplish. I wish i could do what half these swoopers do .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  16. The key to it all is to relax in freefall. What is there to be scared of? you have already decided to jump out of a pane and fall to earth at 120mph. Since you have decided you are going to do this and take on the risk, why on earth do you need to worry about it now? in short...if you are in freefall relax because if you Have taken the risk or challenge on, now enjoy it cause it is to late to get back in the plane. you will find your skydives will go alot better when relaxed. If you are all tense you will have trouble with your spins and flips. Enjoy, people, this is skydiving!. We were all crap when learning, there will always be the star of your class who never failed a jump but as long as you listen to your jump master, do the ground work and go through the dive in your head, you know the jump, you have nothing to worry about, well if you want to worry, leave it until after you have pulled, because if your chute comes out it would have been a waste of a jump if all you did was worry Good luck all you students, but do know it is sfae to be nervous, this way you will always do your gear checks. .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  17. ok, fair enough, i have jumped into a friends wedding before, i will not get into the details but, jumping into your back yard???....so it will be cheaper, well, where i come from it will take a CSO to be on the ground, permission from our fedreation, will not be easy, but if you get it good for you. The thing is a guy asking about this on the internet, with 8 jumps under his belt, and other posts that say, i dont care about what sort of canopy i have and it is no big deal that i dont know about the size of my reserve, well.....what sort of answers does he expect...This bloke President... is asking questions that are hundreds of jumps ahead of him, and for the level he is at...saying that it does not matter to him what size canopy he jumps because all navigators are similar, well he deserves to be shut down until he learns more about level 7 AFF before he even learns about opening lower than 2500 feet let alone landing in his back yard. If im out of place saying this, please read his post on " why tandem before AFF?" before you flame me for my opinion. This guy is far to well ahead of himself and should act like a student and ask his questions to his instructor before coming on dz.com and asking questions that are well ahead of him, and saying that it is not important to know what size his main or reserve is as they all do the same job. Sorry if it sounds like i am going off but i think his post deserves all the answers he has recieved. I hope he survives AFF and knows his equipment{which he does not} before he even thinks about landing off his dz. Blue skies, .....i know i will get flamed for this but read his other posts first please .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  18. when i use to jump over farms(at my dz) i got a bad spot, so i looked for the farm house so i could use the phone instead of walking through paddocks for hours(done that), i landed right outside their sun room while two lady's were having afternoon tea. something i always wanted to do. shame they were use to it though. I know someone who landed on a roundabout at a busy highway intersection. I have also seen someone land on a roof on his first aff jump. i do not reccomend getting a bad spot as who knows where you will end up landing. .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  19. by the time students in my class had 50 jumps we were all very competent in finding the spot...maybe to learn all this sort of stuff you need to ask an instructor to teach you. There are always many people on a dropzone that are more than happy to tell you what they know, you just got to be keen. .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  20. try this..close your eyes on take off and feel the motion of the plane. On the ride up to alttitude close your eyes and visulise what you are going do on the jump. go through the motions without moving but with your eyes closed. This might relax you when the door opens. a little secret i have is... i got a theme song. When the door opens i let the wind ckear my goggles and then put them on. At this point the a-team song starts going through my head and i do my finger clicks with my buddys, and then jump, and fucking love everything about it!!! Good luck mate, do not listen to everyone who is saying if you do not enjoy it don't do it because it is obvious you are doing this for a reason, it might take you a couple more jumps to find your place in the sky but don't give up until you know it is not for you. Peace. .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  21. i signed on to a diploma course and paid up front for 200 jumps before i even did one, let alone a tandem. @ things got me through level one...i jumped after my best mate so there was no way i could not do it and the other was i had just paid for 200 jumps. I found myself on level three freaking out, sittin on the ride to alttitude thinking, okay i have done this twice why do i need to do it again? anyway, just breath and relax. remember it feels like you are floating, do not rush anything, 40 seconds, is quite some time when you are falling out of the sky. .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  22. do you really think that there will be no winds at 3 miles high in the sky. Your head lives in paradise. .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
