  1. My thanks to ryoder and Arvoitus for the help here.
  2. Please excuse my low level of knowledge on pc's. My op sys is windows home premium and using firefox, I went up top to "tools", then to "options", then to "advanced", then to "network", then to "connection settings" Now the question - What happens when I enter the url given into the settings window that opens? I hare to act like I need my hand held but I do since I am quite concerned about really messing the internals of my pc up badly. Any help greatly appreciated !
  3. Would it be possible to explain how to utilize the proxy process to view the documentary?
  4. Only have 36 min total in a tunnel but the last 30 min were at an overnight camp in Orlando. We flew 6 - 2.5 min flights in a group of 4 or 5. I am over 65 so was doing daily exercises to build up for this plus a lot of flexibility stretching. At the end of the first 15 minutes I told the coach my shoulder joints had a real burn going on. I had to do a lot of stretching during the one hour break as well as between some of the next flights that followed to feel better which helped immensely. Then we repeated the cycle. At the end I still wished there was another flight even though the burn was still with me but the great fun was over for that night sadly. Bottom Line - 30 minutes is a lot but I have to do it that way due to being 220 miles from the tunnel and can't go that frequently.
  5. Is it just my pc or is the live feed from Barcelona just very bad.
  6. Starting at 16 could cause a major distraction to your education which will possibly be a major determining factor on how much money u can make so as to skydive throughout your future life. Not that u can't make good money w/o a good education but it helps most average people.
  7. I think I have it? So flying big and small is mainly increasing or decreasing the amount of area one's body presents to the airflow in the tunnel. Hopefully I got it. Thanks
  8. For the benefit of a newb - What does flying big and small mean? I have an unsure idea but don't want to run around with a wrong interpretation in my head. Really hard to admit ignorance - at least for me. LOL.
  9. In Orlando Benji (Benjamin), Curtiss and Chris have helped me greatly. Of course it has been said that Orlando has many great coaches there. One way to find out more is to go to the IBA link Which details the training levels they have achieved. http://tunnelflight.com/pages/instructors/index.php?n=250&sortBy=&employer=1 Folks say Orlando isn't the fastest tunnel but when they shifted it from 72 up to 77 % on me one night I sure as hell noticed it and had to arch like hell to keep from going waayyy up. Apparently it was a subtle test to see if I could handle it. Coaches are teaching u and u don't even know it. Hey, It's all GOOD at iFLY Orlando in my book.
  10. This totally worked for an upright freezer made of metal and plastic with a bunch more stink than a helmet could have unless u dunk the helmet in a 200 lb pile of decaying meat. Never tried this process on a helmet - only a freezer. OR fill the helmet up with Arm & Hammer baking soda for a while to do the job. This ain't rocket science.
  11. Had a freezer in the garage unplug due to a pipe falling on the plug w/o me knowing it for a few days. The bad smell was unimaginable. The cure - If you place a cup of clorox and a cup of ammonia next to each other in the bottom of the freezer and leave the door shut for three days, you will rid the smell. Just don't mix the liquids or do it indoors!!!! The reaction between the gases will neutralize all odors : The reaction between the liquids might neutralize you : So in the helmet's case possibly use a couple of small containers w/each liquid, position the helmet over them and cover it for a few days with some plastic. Kind of like tenting a house.
  12. if most tunnels are like ifly here in orlando they won't let you get near it if you tell you you've had a previous shoulder dislocations, at least that's what i've been told... and they have the signs to back it up My experience at iFLY Orlando is that they Recommend not flying with shoulder or back problems. My 60+ year old brother in law had long term back issues and a past shoulder dislocation but did a lot of yoga. Discussed his issues with a coach and was allowed to fly. He did extremely well his 1st time in the tunnel for a newbie. He loved the experience with no bad side effects.
  13. Thanks much for the video. I'm at 36 measly minutes but now will use your progression as kind of a goal schedule. What percentage of fan power are they pushing you with in belly, sit and head down? Just curious. I'm 5 - 9 and 140# and Orlando belly flies me at 72 to 77 %. Actually when they turned it up to 77 % I really knew it and got a bit nervous but handled it.
  14. Similar thread under Safety and Training. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=4634647;page=unread#unread Some interesting technical graph data there about "wind shadow".
  15. Don't feel bad carrier pilots have big (life and death) problems with burbles also: http://www.dtic.mil/dtic/tr/fulltext/u2/a527798.pdf This report is all about burbles behind carriers robbing lift from jets trying to land.
  16. There's another thread currently on wind tunnels regarding flying in a burble. I'm new to this but the subject here seems to be very similar but on a larger scale. Is my perception correct? This link describes burble impacts behind aircraft carriers. I don't know how they can even land a plane on a carrier after reading this http://www.dtic.mil/dtic/tr/fulltext/u2/a527798.pdf
  17. Thanks for that post cocik it will probably help many and me for sure as a preview of future training I look forward to. Lot's to learn.
  18. I found this father son video specifically about hopping burbles but can't see any special technique being used to do what they do repeatedly aside from they stay close altitude wise and don't hang around above one another. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s2WnAb2_FjQ Does being way above force the lower flyer down hard to the mat making it difficult to maneuver or is it the air above the lower flyer is seriously disrupted enough to prevent supporting the higher flyer? Eager and appreciative to learn more.
  19. It is stated "Be able to hold your spot (both horizontally and vertically) with confidence even if the other person pushes you or steals your air. " I am new to the tunnel (36 minutes) and would appreciate any explanation or guidance on how to maintain a position if one enters my burble or avoid what comes from above if necessary. I don't plan on going 2 way or sharing the tunnel for quite a while $$$$ but advise here might save others from injuries
  20. It was last night or this morning. Hell, I'm so whipped I don't know if it is day or night thanks to not being able to follow coaches directions to get my arms out front instead of to the side at 90 degrees. I must have a mental block or something. Other than that it was like Tony the Tiger Greeeaaat. Coaches Benji and Chris were the best and took me from 6 minutes to 36 throughout 2 - 15 minute blocks and getting me stable in all axis except sit, head down and the very difficult skills/progressions that take a lot more time. It looked as though everyone was very happy with their improvements. It was a strain for me to get through the 30 minutes especially the 2nd 15 but a lot of stretching during the 1 hour break did the rejuvenation job. My mistakes really strained my shoulders but I will improve their endurance prior to my next overnight camp which is the only way to go for someone like me 200+miles away from iFLY Orlando. All kiddin' aside I believe all their coaches are top notch but right now I only know a few - realistically I would trust any of them. For me the light bulb turned on around the 3rd flight of the 1st 15 min block. That was unreal when I got in the zone WOW. Real sore today but rehabbing with Bourbon on ice. Working perfectly and more fun than aspirin or ibuprofen. God - I wish i had a bag of money nowadays - they'd get it all. LOL
  21. Yep, around the corner camera sights already here. Have seen it recently on a web site but can't remember to go back and get a picture. Edit - this isn't what I saw a week or so but gets to the point http://www.popsci.com/diy/article/2010-05/invention-awards-soldiers-third-eye
  22. Wind Tunnel might be a more affordable and convenient option for some in the boats described here. No it isn't entirely the same but instructors at the tunnel have told me it is very very close to the freefall experience minus the big sky scenery.
