  1. Hey Srusty..are you Steve? Are you that tall 6 foot + dude with short black hair? if so thanks for coaching me that one time..you're a pretty good instructor! But man, if you don't mind me saying so, you look pissed all the time. Do you get that alot or was it just a bad day when you were my coach? just asking
  2. Not to belittle Jeb, he has done amazing things but let's face it, in this sport you have to continually evolve and come up with new things. It's just like snowboarding...Shawn White pulls off a 1080 and everyone is wow'ed...now everyone is just eh because 1080s are the norm now. That dude that's dating Jeb's ex-girlfriend has 1 up on him..man she's smoking hot! Just saying
  3. omg dude,,,i am sorry as I also thought you were female. I'm all for gay marriage and all but i don't swing that way. However, i like the spirit of camaraderie so let's get some beer, bury our differences, and watch a few AFF's land while drinking said beer...how about that? You're still a hot firecracker and i think we make a good dynamic duo.
  4. Wait a sec? Is this like a date thing where we buy each other a drink and dinner? Are you saying "yes" to a date?
  5. ok geez!!!! tie me to a post and give me 10 lashes! (wait i might like that) For the OP off AFF and jumping your own 1.2 WL you might find some useful information here: http://www.bigairsportz.com/pdf/bas-sizingchart.pdf For gear selection try this: http://www.dropzone.com/safety/Gear_and_Equipment/A_Guide_to_Buying_Your_First_Skydiving_Gear_873.html Have fun and be safe flying your own rig without even having tried any other wings or harness. Get yourself enrolled into that canopy course. To TracyS : you are one hot firecracker..i like that. I want to buy you a beer
  6. I like those semi stowless bags..when i'm ready to buy my own rig it will no doubt have the semi-stowless bag..i'll admit it..i hate having to mess around with 10 billion rubber bands and would rather deal with just the two locking stows.
  7. I am paid well..i have a career not a job. I don't work in the sport. I wasn't born loaded...I pay for my own expenses..unlike kids these days that have mommy and daddy pay for them.
  8. Oh god..here we go again. Another golden-boy who thinks he's bulletproof after graduating AFF. The OP said nothing to indicate a high opinion of himself. Edited: Oh god..here we go again. Another AFF graduate wanting to buy personal gear again. Seriously though..c'mon, if OP has invested tons of money to go through AFF (and don't anyone say "oh skydiving is cheap,,cuz I worked through my AFF course by packing parachutes, selling my body, giving my kidney to some kid in Rowanda, pan handling in Beverly Hills" crap), then why can't OP invest in taking a canopy course or trying out a few canopies before making a purchase? AFF is expensive in terms of time, money, relationships..PERIOD. So obviously, these days, if OP has tons of money to burn in skydiving OP certainly has money to burn in taking a few courses, or renting gear, paying for coached jumps, or buying skydiving books.

  10. I agree with you...in my AFF i was used to being one of the last ones out the door which pretty much meant i was the last one making the landing...so i didn't have to worry too much about other traffic (other than the tandems above me which was usually about 2-3) in the air. Once Licensed I am now in the first groups out meaning on open time and landingthere was more traffic above and below me i had to deal with...totally different animal i was used to.
  11. Yes sir i do all three (include parkor). I've used the tunnels as part of my training before when i was taking aff...logged 2 hours worth.
  12. Really? What does a family of competitor swimmers have to do with tunnel flying let alone sit flying? Just wondering. I can say i come from a family of parkor runners but that doesn't mean anything when it comes to tunnels and sit flying.
  13. The question you want to ask yourself is: Do i want to use student gear that has been used by 100 people before me or do i want to use my own gear? Hmmmmmm
  14. hahaha... Kids today....sheesh... while i certainly DO enjoy having a hobby which can also be enjoyed by Women...i never have relied on that "ice -breaker " aspect of it. In fact, my wife of 30+ years sorta cringed when she first found out....But By then i had over 1,200 jumps none of which had helped me "find" a woman... WE connected because of all the OTHER wonderful traits that i possess!! I started jumping when i was a teen so i USED to be able to say.. " I've made more skydives than times I've been laid.... and when whuffo guys laughed at me.. I'd follow it Up with "i've made More skydives than times YOU'VE been laid..." that usually shut 'em up...
  15. oh man..if i were on a tandem ride and knew the instructor had to chop and go reserve i'd poop my pants in a second

  17. c'mon dude,,admit it, you do it for the ladies too right? I definitely do it for the ladies,,,it's a great ice-breaker...i just tell my prospects that "I'm A Skydiver"..and from there they get all mushy
  18. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1bt_kdnISL0
  19. Judging by the silence looks like OP pulled the trigger and bought himself a rig.
  20. Sounds like the blind leading the blind...and how many jumps have you had that makes you such an expert?
  21. Privy to information? All the info i gathered is public and here in the forums. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=4460385;page=unread#unread Indicates that OP is already looking on information on how to purchase a used rig. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=4462636;page=unread#unread Indicates OP is doing some research on pros and cons of demo And now this recent question on a 170. I'm no detective but of all the posts OP has asked about it all points to a highly possible decision that OP IS going to buy rig and most likely a 170 wing. Hell, would the conversation be the same if i knew someone who was fresh off AFF, only weighed 130 lbs and found a 150 wing?
  22. Leave your ego at home... Listen to your coaches... Practice in a wind tunnel...
  23. It just irks me that here we have another one of these "golden boys" who thinks he's one of those "special lot" that is bulletproof. First of all, i did a little research and found on another post you were looking to demo some rigs. Ok, why wouldn't you take that opportunity and try out different rigs before you commit to a purchase. Take advantage of that program and go out and demo some rigs. Do you know how lucky you are to have a DZ that offers a comprehensive demo? Next, can you consistently land that 210? And what I mean by consistently can you control that wing against the wind, with the wind, at no wind. Can you land where you want to? Do you know the stall point? Do you know how to ride in deep brakes? When not to ride in deep brakes? Don't lie. Finally have you even read Brian Germain's Downsizing chart? But not even read but performed the recommended maneuvers? It seems you are hell bent on purchasing your own rig without even knowing what wing you want to fly, what harness fits you, or knowing how to do advanced maneuvers. Get over yourself and your ego and how good you think you are..you are still green and WILL BE green for the next few 100's jumps. Progress with care and proper training and not on your childish impulse to make a purchase cuz you're too lazy to demo stuff out.
  24. You do have a great point...IF things went south then yeah, i'd be uncomfortable going back to the DZ,,,eventhough i have friends that go to the same DZ. Then alliances would be made and i think the overall vibe (for me) would be all weird..which would result in me eventually finding another DZ of which there is no other DZ that would be close. And I'd hate for her to leave the DZ because of bad vibes cuz let's face it, she's more senior, has the backing of the other instructors and community. But IF it went ok, then it would have been worth it :D
