  1. Hi Jopa, Welcome to the skies! Doing a tandem before or as part of your course depends on a number of things, including, as far as I know, where you do your course, what association, and what type of course (Static, AFF or....)., whether your instructor needs you to do a tandem and so on. Just enjoy the jumping.
  2. Try contacting Henk Lunshof on Facebook - I think he is based in Holland. He is a CRWDawg. I don't know if he is on this forum.
  3. This from WHO 4. What are typical signs and symptoms of infection? Sudden onset of fever, intense weakness, muscle pain, headache and sore throat are typical signs and symptoms. This is followed by vomiting, diarrhoea, rash, impaired kidney and liver function, and in some cases, both internal and external bleeding. Laboratory findings include low white blood cell and platelet counts, and elevated liver enzymes. The incubation period, or the time interval from infection to onset of symptoms, is from 2 to 21 days. The patients become contagious once they begin to show symptoms. They are not contagious during the incubation period. Ebola virus disease infections can only be confirmed through laboratory testing Full writeup is here : http://www.who.int/csr/disease/ebola/faq-ebola/en/
  4. In order to blame Islam, you need to show that Nolan was trying to effect a political or social change through his action: - Definitions of terrorism - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Definitions_of_terrorism The US Code of Federal Regulations defines terrorism as "...the unlawful use of force and violence against persons or property to intimidate or coerce a government, the civilian population, or any segment thereof, in furtherance of political or social objectives" (28 C.F.R.. If he was not trying to intimidate or coerce a government, civilian ppopulation or section of a civilian population TO FURTHER A POLITICAL OR SOCIAL AGENDA, then it is not terrorism! This was a whack job idiot who happened to have a facade of religion to try and justify his actions.
  5. The reason they are virgins is because they keep saying no! Me, I just want 1 who never says No!
  6. Hi SSIWP, welcome!, Don't even think about buying gear just yet. The club where you train will provide all you need while you are on your course. Spend a couple weekends at your local DZ's, talk to people, look at your options on training, consider a course in Spain, (weather is far more consistently good to complete your course in as short a time as possible!), learn about the kit and then start buying when you know what you want. Don't rush. enjoy and have fun.
  7. Would your boyfriend (or anyone else close to you) be inclined to take matters into their own hands, so to speak, and visit the original seller for a little chat - man to man? ; and be careful what you pst here because if something does happen then suddenly the police can show intent!!
  8. Keep us up to date. I assume you have his address, should not be hard to arrange to get the bike back!

  10. we have a better chance of leaving the EU, it saves the English taxpayer a load of money, and hopefully all the illegal immigrants go north as Alex Salmond has said that Scotland would need immigrants!! Oh, and a jobs bonanza in IT as Sotland has to develop all their own systems.
  11. Customs, Passport and security are doing their jobs, be courteous to them, it may just help you in a 50/50 situation.
  12. Hi Nats, bummer! Did you get all the keys for the bike? Any chance the original owner stole it back to re-sell? (Note, a good chance this is not the case but....)
  13. Actually it is right (as in correct) (versus write (as in pen to paper) or rite (as in sequence of events - typically a passage of rite))
  14. Hi Dixon, welcome. Where in Spain will you be jumping? Cheers Ken
  15. A lot of DZ's in europe will not let you jump if you do not have an AAD, fitted, working and within the warranty period. Personally, I think that it should be mandatory everywhere!
  16. Hi Avkrell, welcome to the best sport in the world. Yoiu are my middle son's age, so I will tell you what I told him...You're education is the most important next step - no arguments or questions - Keep that in mind, as skydiving is very seductive and can easily distract you; rent gear for now, dont be in a rush to buy; ensure that you have fun in the sport, and above all, smile, be safe, enjoy jumping and buy beer!
  17. My Bad! Lol, just looked at skydog's profile! Doh!
  18. Bryn Chaffe also does sessions at Ocana (Skydive Madrid), and he is a senior BPA i structure.
  19. To those who knew him, Graeme, jump pilot and fellow skydiver, died unexpectedly on Monday night. I believe he flew and jumped in Durban, and was one of the pilots who did the'Jump for rhinos'. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Blue Skies buddy!
  20. Si, Welcome. I wrote about my experience - see link - at the FFU: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=4342021;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;;page=unread#unread I am sure you will do well. The biggest issue is not the physical but rather the mental. I found I was getting very tired very fast! But it is fantastic, and I have returned there a number of times! Ensure you get quoted for ALL the jumps - AFF Plus Consolidation Jumps.
  21. Hi Shaun, ask at your dz in Ireland if they have a preference for an overseas DZ, then contact the dz's in Spain. I can only speak for FFU / Skydive Madrid, but highly recommended them. Also, ask the Dz's to confirm what licence they do - BPA / USPA ETC? The time taken to get you through AFF is in your control - listen, do, relax, arch and enjoy. Let us know when and where you go, oh, and welcome!
  22. Hi Michael, I wrote about my AFF - which includes not really remembering much on the first jump or two. My advice, pay attention to the instructors, practice over and over and trust your muscle memory. It does get easier and you will remember the experiences as you progress. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=4342021;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;;page=unread#unread Its easy for us to say, but the best you can do is follow the Nike ad and 'Just do it'!
