Considering the consequence of a dropped toggle during a swoop
DBCOOPER replied to DBCOOPER's topic in Gear and Rigging
Hey,I don't do HP landings so I really don't know what its like to yank on a front riser and be screaming at the planet coming out of a 270. I do have an RSL and an AAD even though I've been taught how and when to not need them. Just thinking outside the box a little...hell we could still be using shot and a halfs and spring loaded pilot chutes if people didn't think about things. And shit happens...and when it does your pretty much dead or you probably wish you were when it happens. Just wondering if there is a way around that. I don't know. To me one is to many especially if it could be prevented with a simple fix. Replying to: Re: Stall On Jump Run Emergency Procedure? by billvon If the plane is unrecoverable then exiting is a very very good idea. -

I was thinking more of dedicated high performance landing jumps. Or maybe it gets hooked up lower or maybe just a choice you make. Replying to: Re: Stall On Jump Run Emergency Procedure? by billvon If the plane is unrecoverable then exiting is a very very good idea. -

I was thinking if a safety back system could be invented that make the losing a toggle not be fatal event. Something like a custom brake line that had an extra line that would come down and connect to the back of a glove or something. Something that would be hooked up after opening and during housekeeping of the slider.Thoughts? Depending on where you are in the exit order, and what the groups are, and where the spot is, and what the winds are doing, turning to the landing area is not always the best course of action. It varies with the situation. Replying to: Re: Stall On Jump Run Emergency Procedure? by billvon If the plane is unrecoverable then exiting is a very very good idea.

Got grief for doing that. I would bump the oldest thread in history and trivia just to bump them down a notch. Replying to: Re: Stall On Jump Run Emergency Procedure? by billvon If the plane is unrecoverable then exiting is a very very good idea.

After watching that video again and seeing the canopy held up in the breeze and the grass moving I can't believe a canopy opened at 13 could possibly land on the airport without any input... Help a newbie with a new wings container.
DBCOOPER replied to Brethalamue's topic in Gear and Rigging
Of the last 3 containers I have purchased new, none would fit a canopy larger than it was sized for unless it was a low bulk main. (Pulse). The containers are Sunpath and UPT. I don't think the up one, down one works with new containers these days. You could end up with a bag lock if for some reason you were in a head up position on deployment. Replying to: Re: Stall On Jump Run Emergency Procedure? by billvon If the plane is unrecoverable then exiting is a very very good idea.

Stolen Gear - What would you do?
DBCOOPER replied to kmills0705's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I'd ask them where they got it and inform them that it was stolen. Replying to: Re: Stall On Jump Run Emergency Procedure? by billvon If the plane is unrecoverable then exiting is a very very good idea. -
So you saying that you can practice the stall spin entry without actually entering a spin? Or are you saying its ok to do it as long as you don't "wind it up"? Replying to: Re: Stall On Jump Run Emergency Procedure? by billvon If the plane is unrecoverable then exiting is a very very good idea.

Who knew a pilots licence could come in a pack of cornflakes... That box of cornflakes cost about $25,000.00 . But then they get paid $10 a load. They're not slowing down. They need to get back down for the next load. They need to do at least 30 loads or they won't make as much as the packers. If you read the first page of AC105-2E 3.a(4) you will see: (4) Part 119, Certification. Air Carriers and Commercial Operators (§ 119.1(e)(6)). Pilots who conduct parachute operations within a 25 statute mile (sm) radius of the airport of departure may conduct them as commercial operations under part 91. http://www.faa.gov/documentLibrary/media/Advisory_Circular/AC_105-2E.pdf Replying to: Re: Stall On Jump Run Emergency Procedure? by billvon If the plane is unrecoverable then exiting is a very very good idea.
