  1. And these are the loonies who want to rule the populace: Georgia GOP Chair Goes Full Flat-Earth, Says Globes Are Part of a Conspiracy
  2. E Jean Carroll filed two lawsuits against Trump. The first was filed in 2019, and it still pending. The second was field in 2022 under the new NY Adult Survivors Act, which makes exceptions to the statute of limitations. That was the one which was just concluded in her favor. Well, there has been an update to the 2019 suit: E. Jean Carroll Seeks Additional Damages After Trump’s CNN Town Hall Reference on the suits: Wikipedia - E Jean Carroll - Defamation Lawsuit

Is Putin going to stamp his feet and threaten to hold his breathe if Ukraine gets F-16's?

I had not heard of that, but here is an article about it: 24 combat-ready F/A-18 Hornets are aging unused in Australia
  6. In my late teens, I knew a guy who like to take an acid trip on the weekends. One Monday evening he was coming down from a trip, and came to the realization that earlier that day (while still under the influence), he had visited the local recruiting office and made preparations to sign up for the army. That scared him so bad, that he swore off of acid.
  7. The last paragraph of Heather Cox Richardson's letter last night is fascinating: Interestingly, Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) has indicated he’s on board with the idea of Biden invoking the Fourteenth Amendment. “I think if I were president, I would be tempted” to use the Fourteenth Amendment, Hawley said. “Because I would just be like, ‘Listen, I’m not gonna let us default. So end of story. Y’all will do whatever you want to do.’ But I’m not necessarily giving him that advice. It’s against my interest.” Hawley’s defense of the idea suggests that Republicans are eager to find a solution to the crisis that does not involve them, so that they can then condemn the Democrats for whatever they do. https://heathercoxrichardson.substack.com/p/may-17-2023

  9. Lauren Boebert files for divorce from husband I'm quite surprised, because I thought those two hicks were made for each other.
  10. "I've got this thing and it's fucking golden, and, uh, uh, I'm just not giving it up for fuckin' nothing." The practice of Presidential pardons needs to be abolished. It is just a mechanism by which a crook can lure in his lackeys to help in his crimes, letting them get off scot free.

And at some point in the future, when the transplants become unhappy at the reality of Russia, and start protesting, Putin will stand up in front of the Duma and begin speaking: "When the United States sends its people, they’re not sending their best. They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing conspiracy theories. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people."

You just brought back a bad memory; When I was a kid, every Christmas meant an all-day drive to my paternal grandfathers house. And I hated it for a number of reasons, including that he still had an outhouse. And getting up in the middle of a December night in Ohio, to trudge across the back yard to the outhouse was miserable!

Just last night I saw the "South Park" episode: "Japanese Toilet". I'm pretty sure that one had computer chips in it. ;-)
  19. King was saying that about 4 of those R's campaigned on a promise to preserve reproductive rights, but didn't name them.
  20. Justin "Beau" King was talking about that this morning. Apparently, it will take EVERY GOP vote to override. So if even a single GOP rep votes against the override, it will fail.
  21. An example of politicians ruling, instead of representing: 56% of Montana people say abortion should be legal in all/most cases: Pew Research Center: Views about abortion among adults in Montana Last year an anti-abortion referendum in MT failed by 53% / 47% vote: How Montana’s LR-131 ‘Born-Alive’ referendum failed So if the politicians of MT actually listened to the citizens, this would not even be an issue.
  22. I was not referring to all Republicans. I was referring to the subset who does not want to represent the citizens, but seeks power to rule the citizens. AKA the MAGA subset.
