  1. A lot of people would say it's the definition of "insanity," but I've yet to find a dictionary that agrees with them. Drives me crazy. You seem to be saying that you keep looking it up... Well, I might be insane by the actual definition. And if I keep looking in the same dictionary expecting to see a different definition for insanity, that might be an example of my insanity. And getting into a semantics argument about it on the internet might be another example. But neither of those examples would be the definition of insanity.

  3. Congrats! Looks like a beautiful place for jumping too.
  4. I was just watching some of his stand-up stuff a few days ago. Funny as always. RIP. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uLtPp_xIpC4
  5. I don't have a better suggestion for where to house them while they are being processed. I don't think that those with communicable diseases should be released into the community - not sure how that is being handled. It is my understanding that, while awaiting a hearing, they are to be released to relatives (mostly in other cities) or to shelters set up by charity organizations. Probably a strain on our community, but again, I don't have a better suggestion for dealing with the current situation. It seems to me we need to figure out how to stop so many people from illegally crossing our borders. And we may need to speed up the process of deportation (or in some cases, asylum) for those who are already here. And perhaps set up a refugee program in Central America so that people can register and be approved or not approved before coming here. Easy enough to say all of that . . .
  6. Being the current President, Obama used The White House facebook page to thank service members. Perhaps he should have done so on his personal page as well, I don't know. But I can help you with the bashing by pointing out that he did thank the U.S. men's soccer team before he got around to thanking the service members. Oh, and he posted a narcissistic [I]video of himself doing all this thanking.
  7. He sure aint! Oh shush.. and pass the popcorn No popcorn needed. I originally typed up some vitriol to go with the picture I was posting, but I had one of those "think before you post" moments and deleted what I had written. So I can see how the picture didn't make much sense without elaboration. Though I am wondering what made me appear so manly.
  8. Wow, that's an awesome campsite! I've never been there, but I recently saw it in a documentary (Cadillac Desert), and it caught my eye. Looks like a beautiful place.
  9. Perhaps you're a man of no words, but evidently you're a man with lots of time to find those rare pics that make it seem like these folks were from the local senior housing project. They just got there a bit early so they could get goods seats and then look directly into the crying terrified eyes of the children they terrorizing. God bless them. Don't let the other 99% of video and pictures of the incident sway you . This is in my local community, so I am currently inundated with news about the event. I actually found this picture to be disturbing; the "no words" meant I couldn't explain why. Aside from the usual crap of people making signs about other people needing to "SPEAK ENGLISH" while their signs demonstrate their own inability to spell. I had other not-so-nice thoughts about the people in this picture, but I'm gonna bite my tongue on that.
  10. I don't think it's a cop-out to not give a simple yes or no answer. He said if it was his decision, he would look at the individual case. And I tend to agree that that's the best way to deal with it. (Similar to people who have DUI's on record, as someone else mentioned.)
  11. Oh, and I am still unable to find an actual example of anyone who has been put on the sex offender registry because of public urination. I find a lot of articles claiming that there are people on the registry for this reason, but not a single one that gives an example of an actual person. The closest thing I've found is a forum where a college guy was saying that he has been arrested twice for public urination and that a cop told him if he got arrested a third time, he could possibly have to register as a sex offender. Not saying it hasn't happened, but I am curious to find a real story of someone that it has happened to.
  12. OK, I'll chime in again. I suppose I can understand why you wouldn't want to post examples on here, but it's difficult to discuss the topic when it seems like nothing more than a hypothetical question. Anyhow, I was finally able to find an example through a general web search. I would say this particular person (convicted rapist) has been "publicly outed" because it was a highly publicized case (the case had nothing to do with skydiving, but he is now an instructor). What I can gather from random web comments is that this does not reflect on the sport of skydiving itself, but rather on the particular person and the dz he works for. I don't think that "skydiving" is desperate for TI's or wanting sex offenders to represent the sport. But apparently some dz's (at least this one) will hire a person either because they're ok with the person's history or because they don't do background checks.
  13. What is the deal with soccer lately? I've gone most of my life hardly ever hearing of soccer (yes, my great-grandfather was born in America ), then all of a sudden I'm hearing about soccer everywhere I turn. Did they recently incorporate naked cheerleaders into the game or something???
  14. Sure, send a letter to DZO's. Take it before the USPA. There doesn't seem to be much more to discuss on here.
  15. I've had cats for 20+ years, and I think I now qualify as a Crazy Cat Lady. I don't think cats are typically bothered by moving places (unless it's 1500 miles across the country, but then it's only the drive they don't like). Especially if you're moving from a smaller place to a bigger place. I think she'll be happy just to be staying with the same human, and the sooner you get her the better. As far as having two cats (who didn't grow up together), my experience is that an adult cat is more likely to form a good bond with a young kitten than with another adult cat. If you decide to get a buddy for her, I would definitely suggest a small kitten. She will be less threatened by it and can teach it who's boss while it's still little. Plus, they'll probably be a lot more playful together. Anyhow, no need to think about two cats just yet... Go get this one if you've already fallen for her.
  16. False accusations are bad enough in that they hurt the wrongly accused. But then they possibly do even more damage by making others more suspicious when a real victim tries to report real harassment.
  17. Assuming the USPA did take on the policy you're suggesting, there is still no guarantee that a tandem student is going to have a wholesome, nourishing experience at the dz. If someone is looking to have a particular experience at the dz (aside from simply jumping out of a plane), it would be a good idea to research the potential dz's and perhaps get recommendations from others who have jumped there. It might even be possible to reserve a tandem jump with a particular instructor. I think this holds true whether registered sex offenders are barred from being TI's or not.
  18. The stuff I read on there sounded like actual sexual assault, even if it was done by one kid to another kid, but that's not a discussion I want to get into. I am specifically looking for an example of someone who has been required to register as a sex offender because he/she went streaking or urinated in public one time.
  19. Is there an example somewhere in this link that has to do with a person being required to register for streaking or public urination?
  20. Sorry if I missed it somewhere in the thread, but does anyone have a good example of someone who was required to register as a sex offender after one instance of streaking or public urination? I've done a brief web search, and I get the idea that it might happen, but I haven't come across an actual example.
