The FBI was so honed in to the skydiving community and the community itself then was so tight knit, that I doubt "one of their own" would be able to pull it off and either A. not be found out or B. not eventually spilling the beans.

Wow, He was a great guy! He was one of my first instructors at Clewiston in the 90s, and even filmed me skydiving in the mid 1990s. God bless him. I remember him as an avid birder too. His photography of birds of prey and eagles was stellar. BSBD

Thanks. I actually talked with several much more experienced folks than myself over the weekend..who gave me similar advice. I have a friend who is going to let me demo his Crossfire 3 149 which is roughly the same size as my Sabre2 150. He said the same thing you did. Get to know the different canopy then later on decide about moving down. Who knows? I may just end up sticking with what I've got.
