JayhawkJumper 0 #2 June 3, 2003 Looks like Judith Grale (SP?) in Arizona. To all the birdmen out there, is the birdman in the picture flying at full speed or does it look like he is slowing down for the surfer?
ManBird 0 #3 June 3, 2003 Dropping like a rock (for a wingsuit)... maybe 90 - 100 MPH? Forward speed is somewhat less of where it could be. Body is arched, legs are back, and wings are in half flight, so the flyer is definitely pushing down. Arms are "drooping", and thus inducing drag, which would slow the forward speed down a bit. But there's some drive. If the legs were under the body with the knees bent, then there'd really be no forward speed. The short answer to your question: The wingsuit flyer is compromising their flight a fairly great deal."¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click
SkymonkeyONE 3 #4 June 3, 2003 Quite dirty. As an ex skysurfer (about 100 jumps in 1990), I was never able to outfly a regular skydiver in a track. Not on my 42 incher, nor my 48 incher.

SurfFlite 0 #9 June 16, 2003 I'd like to see the wingsuit vs this board I designed. I have a "bigger" version in the works but I see no way to equal a winged suit short of reinventing the hang glider.64 mph vertical fall rate, ~120mph forward tracking
bbarnhouse 0 #10 June 17, 2003 Kerry~ very, very cool! When can we expect you to fly it? I want to get pics! B^
LouDiamond 1 #11 June 17, 2003 That looks like a snowboard with training wheels. Is it made out of metal or does it just appear that way in the photo?"It's just skydiving..additional drama is not required" Some people dream about flying, I live my dream SKYMONKEY PUBLISHING

SurfFlite 0 #13 June 17, 2003 It is made out of carbon fiber with an aluminum honeycomb core. It is basically a board with gullwings. It has a wingspan of 29 inches and is 50 inches tip to tail. It weighs less than 4 pounds. It locks you into a pretty stable trank but forget trying a henhouse on this thing. Kebe already has a red one. ManBird 0 #15 June 21, 2003 Quotewell if they dont start selling the skyray soonThey are selling the SkyRay. You have to have about $2,800, 500 jumps, and probably something arranged with your DZ/S&TA to fly it. Just shoot them an e-mail. I would imagine that tracking board shouldn't be touched until a good number of skysurfs have been made on both the little and then the bigger boards."¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click
PhreeZone 15 #16 June 21, 2003 After watching Felix open with one I'm wondering why anyone wants one. I know Perris will only let rigid wings exit tailgate planes, I wonder how many DZ's are going to impose similar requirements?Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
