Recommended Posts

Well my ? is this.....

Say u have $25,000 to spend on skydiving....

U want to be a tandem and an AFF instructor...

U also want training in all basic types of flying....

Now who would u get to train you and where would all this take place....?

Thanks for any input....

I know what I'd do... travel between Elsinore, Eloy, and Deland to get the best weather possible for each season, temporarily ignore the being an instructor stuff for a bit and just become a safe, proficient, multi-disciplined skydiver, and then when you feel you are ready hit the coach, AFF-I and tandem courses as time permits.

You are probably going to need more money though... you gotta factor in all the beer you have to buy + lodging & food as well. ;)

500 jumps 10,000.00 Average US
Coach course 500.00 US
Tandem course 1000.00 US
AFFI 1500.00 US I think
-------------------------------------------
13000.00 US

Now include travel and food and coach fees and packing, lodging and extra jumps to get really good

You might need and extra 50-10 thousand but it could be done.

your not counting in gear.

New Rig = $4,000
RW suit = $300
freefly suit = $300
Altimeter = $150
Audible = $100 to $250
Helmet = $200 to ?

Why waste $200 on a helmet?
Pro-Tecs cost less than $40 and provide as good ear protection as pimped-out carbon fibre bone domes.
For the last couple of years, I have worn a Pro-Tec that I pulled out of the last-and-found bin.

Any large DZ will do.

I'd say Zhills, live in a trailer on the DZ

You need 6 hours of freefall for an AFF rating, and 3 years for a Tandem.

So start jumping, get a camera helmet start doing video.

Get the coach rating.

Then after you get 6 hours of FF get the AAF.

Once you pass the three years get a Tandem rating.

Would be easy on 25,000

Oh yeah, one last thing i forgot to mention. Doing all these jumps and progressing at an incredible rate, you're going to get cocky somewhere between jump 200 and 500. Don't. Trust me, i experienced it first hand. Breaking yourself and sitting out for six months sucks huge, gigantic wookie butt.
