ChrisL 2 #1 December 8, 2004 POPS stands for "Parachutists Over Phorty Society" Can someone define the "over" part for me? The "over" part could be construed as meaning you must be 41 years of age. Of course as soon as you pass that 40th B-Day you have passed beyond (or over) 40 and therefore should be eligable. I ask cuz I just turned 40 the other day and wanted to join up.__ My mighty steed

I signed up within a week of my b-day._______________ D28695 PoPs #9237 "Mix ignorance with arrogance at low altitude and the results are almost guaranteed to be spectacular" — Bruce Landsberg
wmw999 2,167 #3 December 8, 2004 POPS isn't real rigid about rules . You could probably join for fun if you were 39 and 3 months (i.e. already conceived). But some folks receive a POPS application on their fortieth birthday. Just to remind them of how old they are Wendy W.There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. (tbrown)
cvfd1399 0 #4 December 8, 2004 Technically 40 years and one second after the time you were born you are "Over" forty. I guess that is why they say you are over the hill, not on the hill at 40.

piisfish 136 #6 December 8, 2004 I also heard of people receiving the application at the beginning of the year in which they would be 40. Just join, and go to the next POPS World Meet which will be held in Beaver Valley. I enjoyed attending and helping at the last world meet at my DZ. Met loads of very friendly and interesting people.scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM
