Rate of descent

Recommended Posts

You'll generally find a little table at end of a logbook that helps you do the math. They're very indicative numbers, but they work for most practical purposes.
I'm standing on the edge
With a vision in my head
My body screams release me
My dreams they must be fed... You're in flight.

In what attitude?

What does having a decent attitude have to do with descent? Do positive thinkers fall faster?

(Can we correct spelling errors in thread titles? Otherwise they're difficult to find in search.)

You appear to have missed my gentle poke at the OP and the thread title. :P

The answer is 35 seconds : 10500 - 1483 - 5000 = 4017 ft
The first 1483 ft take 12 seconds (this is the acceleration time)
4017 ft / 174 ft/sec = 23 seconds (174 ft/sec is the terminal speed reached after 12 seconds)
23 + 12 = 35 seconds to fall from 10500 to 5000

Is it clear enough ?
;)

Learn from others mistakes, you will never live long enough to make them all.

Tandem jump , 420 lbs. plus shoot, DZ at zero elevation .
30 seconds seems about right?

More tandem questions huh?

Between the sore butt and the lack free fall delay you should demand your money back... ;)

Depends on how long it took to get you stable and deploy that drogue thingy. You know about the drogue thingy don't you?
Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
