jungle 3 #1 November 22, 2018 Hi all I have an offer for my first rig which I can try on tmrw (no possibility to make a test-jump with it) Javelin Odyssey DOM 2007 with 1300 jumps Reserve Speed 150 Sqf 0 jumps DOM 2007 Main Pilot 170 Sqf unknow jumps DOM 2008 Cypress DOM 2007 Offer is EUR 4000.- all airworthy until may 2019. I'll go for skydive holidays on Monday and it would be soooo awesome if I can go with my own rig. But because I'm so enthusiastic right now and it's a close call, I think I can't judge if this is a reasonable deal or not. Do you think it is okay? Any inputs are highly appreciate. Thank you so much!!
Pobrause 6 #2 November 22, 2018 Disclaimer: all the values except the Cypres result exclusively from good guesses and research in Facebook groups They are worth exactly what you paid for it Cypres maybe 150,- depending on when it expires exactly Rig around 1000, maybe a BIT more if it’s really well taken care off Reserve 750,- Pilot mainly dependent on actual jump numbers and condition of the fabric and lines Assuming 75 jumps per year which would put it at 750 total Let’s make it a round number due to the lack of dependable data and say 1000€ 2900€ total, could go up a few hundred in case the pilot has lower jump numbers, a recent reline and the rig is in pristine condition. 4000€ is not a good deal IMHO Make of this what you want. Maybe the seller is open for negotiations? ------------------------------------------------------- To absent friends
jungle 3 #3 November 22, 2018 Pobrause, thanks so much for your answer. I hope the seller is willing to negotiate. I'll take a look at the rig tmrw and will try to evaluate in which condition the pilot is. I think I'll try to bargain it down to EUR 3500.-. I really like the seller (my future rigger) and I want that he also earns something with this deal.... Looking forward to some more opinions..... How can I attach a picture to a post??? Thank you so much!! The AAD is pretty much worthless due to mandatory retirement. Take it out of the equation. The other pieces could be ballparked and I would suggest checking gearshops and online classifieds to gauge the market. Also depends on condition, do they need relines, did they just have relines that the rigger paid for, etc.Confirmed cynical sarcastic bastard since 2003
Westerly 61 #5 November 23, 2018 Not sure about the market in the EU, but in the USA that rig would be overpriced. I'd offer 'maybe' 2500 euros, and even at that I am not sure that's a reasonable deal without seeing it.
jungle 3 #6 November 23, 2018 Thanks a lot for your inputs! I'll try to negotiate with mentioning that the AAD is almost worthless and will check especially the lineset of the pilot. At the moment there is a too small main canopy for me in the harness so the rigger will need to take that out and put the pilot in. So his work is also included in the price....does that make a difference?
davenuk 7 #7 November 23, 2018 i dont think so. its usually pretty straight forward to swap out a canopy. walk away, nice that you've got 4k to spend tho plus wait until you're ready for the 170 as you'll get way more choice around that mark and can buy something that'll last you longer. (unless youre 100kg in ur undies ) /2c

Iago 8 #9 November 23, 2018 jungle I want my own rig now!!! Why don't you give me answer that I want to hear Best advice I can give is dont just jump and buy the first rig you see. Look at a few others and consider piecing one together that fits your needs. Best source of used gear is other jumpers. Many of them have gear they dont use anymore or know someone who retired and has a rig.Confirmed cynical sarcastic bastard since 2003
Pit76 5 #10 November 23, 2018 Like said earlier in this thread, take your time to find a rig. After looking around for a couple of months I recently found one myself. Turned a few down before too. Container: Javalin Oddesy: DOM 2008 but only around 100 jumps on it. Main: Silhouette 190 with 200 jumps Reserve: new PDReserve193 but payed only 1000€ instead of 1300€ AAD: Vigil from 47/2017. All the equipment has a good amount of years to go so I'm happy with it.
jungle 3 #11 November 24, 2018 I've bought it. Not being patiently is expensive, but I couldn't wait longer.....But most important is, that I'm super happy with it and can't wait to jump it. Thanks for all your answers despite I've ignored them all :P

Maddingo 21 #14 November 25, 2018 I'm selling a DOM 2018 system with 60 jumps for 4900€ airworthy for the next 20 years.
Timxx 1 #15 December 6, 2018 I don't hink you made a really bad deal as some people are saying. Depends where you live and surely details of the system (options of the rig, line conditions of the pilot, ZPX or ZP fabric, overall jump numbers, etc.). In Germany gear is really expensive (mostly due to the bad ex-rate) and ok systems are very rar. Therefore I guess around 3500€ for the system would be a very fair price. A new system with the components you mentioned can be easily around 8.000€. Have fun with it!
jungle 3 #16 December 6, 2018 Lines of the pilot are almost new.... Anyway when I jumped it the first time last week all my thoughts about the price were gone....just love it and it fits me good! Maybe after student gear it's easy to make me happy :P but the pilot flies lovely....my first downsize from a 190 to 170 was a good decision, I can fly and flare it much better.....my wingload is still only 0.8.... (:
Timxx 1 #17 December 7, 2018 Only new lines makes a difference of ~400€. Enjoy your new gear!
