Many whuffos who have never stepped foot on a DZ, feel perfectly justified in discussing the dangers of skydiving.

And many people who have never used illegal drugs feel perfectly justified in discussing the dangers of using illegal drugs.

Of course, it's possible to learn about the dangers of something without actually trying it or even being around it. But I think too many people use very limited information to think they know enough to have an authoritative opinion.

That's exactly what wuffos say about skydiving.

I'm not really sure what your point is.

Are you a crack cocaine whuffo who is trying to discuss the dangers of crack cocaine?

Nope, but at least I have been around "those people" enough to know what I'm talking about.

I'm gonna guess that I have far more experience with "those people" than you do. And, no offense, but you sound like you have pretty limited information.

Nope, the original post was about hating women and gays. Do try and keep up, would you?

So... you're saying that you're being even more petty than I said you were?

Nope, I'm saying I wasn't the one who caused the conversation to turn. However, I do believe one good turn deserves another, don't you?

I must have missed it when you were describing your experience with people addicted to crack. How many N.A. meetings have you attended, again?

There is even people berating the conduct of politicians, even though they have never been a politician.

Next thing you know people will start posting opinions on the internet....

Good point. At least the people berating politicians have at least listened to what they have to say. Unlike those who have never even been to an N.A. meeting thinking they know anything about how crack devastates people lives.

Thanks for making my point.

Crack addiction does not equal NA.
NA does not equal crack addiction.

They aren't attached at the hip.
One does and will survive without the other.

Not sure of your point. Are you saying that going to an N.A. meeting is not a good learning tool to find out about addictions and the people who become addicted? If not, what would be a better way? Read a book by some pointy headed professor looking to make money off the "proceeds"?

I attended several dozen A.A. and N.A. meetings.

And how many times did the thought cross your mind that the world would be a better place if all those in attendance were in prison?

The war on drugs just adds additional ways in whiich drugs can fuck up someone's life. It's retardedly expensive and wholly ineffective. But it does keep a fair amount of poor and colored people in prison, so I can see why the GOP would support it.

You repeatedly assert that we won't know anything about crack addiction unless we attend an NA meeting.

I completely disagree.

This. I'd wager that someone who's lived with a crack addict understands better than someone who spent several dozen hours with some trying to beat it. And past users likely have a pretty solid perspective of the drug too.

I never said that. I simply suggested it to those who think they know how devastating the effects are. But if you think you know about skydiving but have never stepped on a DZ, then more power to you. But, excuse me if I question your experience.

I agree. How many who have that experience also think crack should be easily available, I wonder? I would also say that talking to dozens of former crack addict would give someone a more rounded perspective than just one.

Nice tap dance, so I'll ask again. Do you support legalizing Crack cocaine?

I oppose all forms of busibodying, by left or right. Most of the busibodying in the USA is by the right, of course.

I'll remember that when I go buy lightbulbs in a couple years.

power consumption and the need for additional coal burning power plants is about more than busibodying. Just as the CAFE debate is.

I know! The socialist busybodies at Home Depot don't even carry carbon arc lamps any more. It's like communist Russia.

That is a really crappy analogy.
People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am

same old crap you guys - it's not being a 'busybody' if it's on your personal agenda. It's not being a busybody if you use government to force others to do things your way.

If light bulbs don't give you a decent example, go pick any one of thousands of others out there. Clearly you think that telling citizens what kind of bulb to buy isn't close to being nosy about what you have and own. That's fine - there's plenty of others out there.

Perhaps if one ignores which letter (R or D) is next to whatever example you find might make it easier to actually notice that is interference

Except that they have already shown to have incredibly poor decision making skills.

WTF are you talking about?

Deciding to smoke crack is an incredibly poor decision in my book.

If you have been to NA meetings, I doubt you could label it any other way.

Your response is pretty weird. Have you ever been to an N.A. meeting? Do you have any idea how addictive crack cocaine is? If not, then you haven't any idea what you are talking about. That's pretty typical of those who support legalization of crack, so don't feel you are alone.

Let us know your thoughts AFTER attending that N.A. meeting, OK?

How do you square this with personal responsibility?

How do you square this with not blaming an object but blaming the person?

He missed your point entirely, SD. Though I don't think you helped by trying to tie in the gun topic. So let me rephrase it more brutally straightforward.

GM - your party represents itself, epitomized by Reagan, as believing a good government is the one that governs least. On the other side, you have Democrats who think the government knows better then you how to live your life. People, could the hypocrisy in the drug war and in the postings made here be any more blatant?

Mind you, there are a growing number of conservatives who have also gone over to the legalization side, usually for purely financial reasons, but at least some remember their party's roots.

As for your trump card - attendance at NA meetings - Who gives a fuck? If you based your knowledge of sex on what you hear at sex addiction group meetings, then you'd say the celibate monks have it right. Cocaine and crack are extremely addictive - this is true. But so is nicotine and along with alcohol kill far more Americans.

The modification to the GOP manta is pretty easy to write. The GOP believes in a smaller government, with a fucking huge military, and leaves people alone...unless there's a chance they've having fun. Then laws and barriers are necessary for the good of society.

Who is asking them to make decisions? I said you could learn something about how devastating crack use is from them.

I guess I'm done here, too.
