I think Bill's implication was that when records are not available, the media and adverse pundits immediately imply that something bad is being hidden. Or they just ask a leading question ("what is he hiding?") and let the reader made the implication themselves.

I only just had a debate with a coworker - after he blindly forwarded me some silly religious crap. Somehow Snopes was referenced...he doesn't believe anything Snopes documents. Because it's owned by a wealthy liberal.
