Joe the Plumber - is he a plumber?

Recommended Posts

Of course he's not. He is a robot built and designed by that that zany Dick Cheney to singlehandly derail the chosen one's campaign. Cheney has got skillz!
The most terrifying words in the English language are: I'm from the government and I'm here to help.

Is it really surprising the the reality does not match the message???[:/][:/]

I'm thinking this is another example of the poor due diligence done by McCain's staff. First Sarah Palin, now plumber Joe.

(could have been worse - could have been found using illegal aliens for cheap labor like Clinton's first AG nominees)

Here. You might get some more ammunition from this article.

My first instinct was to point out how this guy has been attacted for his views by assailing his name, registration status, professional bona fides, anything but his views.

What hit me about this whole dust up is the simple fact that here is an American who didn't ask for this 15 minutes of fame. He asked a question and expressed an opinion. The fact that he doesn't make $250,000 and that he is likely a benficiary of Obama's welfare program and STILL disagrees with him ( as we've found out from this crazy opposition research being conducted ).

If we wait a day I'm sure the Daily Kos will attack his kids too. Somehow I think he's up to the task.

Oh NO!! You mean his partner isnt a Plumber either???:S

What DO you call someone that works on Plumbing for a Living?

I say Plumber but I am sure the Left will find some way to disagree. I know... next they can scream about him not having a Union Card.:S

The guy asked a question. A Valid Question. That’s it. Now the left has to find a way to attack this guy. Hey.. He works for a living and hopes to own his own business someday. Next thing you know he will become an EVIL corporation.

McCain said Joe worked 10-12 hours a day 7 days a week.

Have you ever tried to get a plumber on a weekend?

Or after 5pm on a weekday? Not likely they will even answer the phone.

Ortherwise it was a good story.

Don't blame Joe.

"Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon 'em." Malvolio.

The McCain campaign thrust greatness upon Joe so they could score a few political points.

In this thread, right wingers are passionately defending a plumber who wasn't quite honest about his finances and who doesn't pay his taxes. In the ACORN thread, a right winger is questioning the service of a World War II vet who has been denied the right to vote because his story doesn't "seem right" to the poster.

No surprise here. If someone supports a republican position, then he gets defended to the bitter end. But if it's a vet who might just support a democrat, he's a liar. I am thinking that cases like these are one of the reasons the McCain campaign is seen as so negative.

Apparently Joe is also a registered Republican.

Looks Like McCain Vetted Joe the Plumber as Closely as Sarah Palin
October 16, 2008, 1:52PM

So a funny thing happened on the way to the forum:

http://www.toledoblade.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20081016/NEWS09/810160418

Turns out that Joe the Plumber is actually not a plumber (licensed one anway), has a lien against him for failing to pay his taxes (maybe explains his opposition to taxes), is not an undecided independent (registered as a republican), hates social security (http://www.talkingpointsmemo.com/archives/237630.php) and may even have an indirect relationship to Charles Keating and Savings & Loan Scandal (I am not asserting this last one as fact - but here is the link: http://www.eisenstadtgroup.com/2008/10/15/joe-the-plumber-wurzelbacher-related-to-charles-keating-oops/)

Best of all is admittedly better off under Obama's tax plan than McCain's.

Looks like another wonderful job of vetting someone by McCain and his staff. You think he'd learn his lesson from Palin and dig a bit into backgrounds before he introduced another unknown figure on a grand stage.

I'm not an engineer. Please don't tell the owners of the several hundred offices and handful of buildings I've designed.

I would guess that a licensed architect or licensed engineer signed off on any public building you designed.

vetted by mccain? he asked a question in a chance encounter with obama. to which the chosen one answered 'its better for everyone to spread the wealth around.'

assuming he's not a plumber, who cares? does it make his question less valid? he's financially better off under obama and still thinks the tax plan is socialist.

Bill.. Kellend asked the question "Is he a Plumber?". Read the Topic.

The answer is this is a guy that does Plumbing work for a living. What would you call him?

I think most anyone would call someone that earns a living doing Plumbing work.. A Plumber.

The initial attack was brought up by Kellend in if this guy was in fact actually a plumber.

Of course you want to spin this as being a McCain negative attack. It isn’t. It is a response to a Valid question brought up by a PLUMBER.

Seriously.. There are some very bight and intelligent people in here, But it seems any logic and common sense at all goes right out the window in effort to make the opposition look bad.

Joe is a Plumber. He asked a Question.
His question has been answered.

He would actually pay less under Obamas plan in his current role. However if he succeeded in achieving his goal of buying his company, The Taxes would be Higher under Obamas plan.

Right. I'm not disputing his right to ask the question; he can ask whatever he wants. Nor is Kallend out of line for asking questions about him.

I am amused that you go into purple faced outrage mode when anyone DARES QUESTION THE PLUMBER! While at the same time in another thread another right winger is questioning the valor of a World War II vet who has the gall to want to vote democratic in an election. It's an interesting double standard. I know you won't acknowledge it, but I think it's pretty clear.

>However if he succeeded in achieving his goal of buying his company, The Taxes
>would be Higher under Obamas plan.

No, that's incorrect. 98% of small businesses will see lower taxes - and if the description that Joe gave of his business is correct, then it falls well within that 98%. Only if Joe the Plumber becomes Joe the Official Plumbing Supplier for Wal-Mart would his taxes go up, and no one has suggested that that's the case.

>But it seems any logic and common sense at all goes right out the window . . .

. . . when a candidate starts losing badly. It happens every election here.

I dont recall screaming or any change in coloration. Just saying that It was a silly question.
"Is he a plumber?". He does pluming for a living. Of course he is a Plumber.

You clearly have me confused with someone else. I dont recall posting anything at all about a vet.

Many people I know and respect will be voting democrat including my own mother. I have no problem with that at all. I do have issue with people that did not of their own volition go out and register to vote and we possibly BRIBED or coerced into doing so voting. No matter which party they vote for. I also have issues with voter fraud no matter which party gets the votes from people that are dead or do not exist.

That is not the answer obama gave when he was asked that question.

What part of "another" was unclear in Bill's post?

I speak for myself and only myself. I do not belong to any group. I assume others do as well. If there is a screw up and legitimate voter is being denied the right to vote (especially a Vet) then it is critical that that error gets corrected. The party he is voting for is irrelevant.

So.. Kellend.. is Joe a Plumber?

So.. Kellend.. is Joe a Plumber?

Is a paralegal who draws up wills a lawyer? Is an EMT a physician? Is a guy who draws up plans for his own 2 car garage an architect? Is my friend the lawyer who built his own biplane an aeronautical engineer?

What is the meaning of "is"?
