what kind of friend are U!

But then again I understand the Rangers are out of the UEFA Cup - so your frustration level must still be rather high

Aw Phil, don't take personally, just having a larrf you know....
I thought you would be glad to see the heat off, after your wee faux pas this morning. ;)

Rangers, oh you mean the soccer team.... I gave up following 'fitba' as we call it years ago, all my teams were poop!

Looking forward to the rugby season though!:)Yet another chance for us Scots to show the world just how good we really are at sports[:/][:/]

how about that for info?

Hehehe! I've been burned at the stake many times! The Skydive Ring certainly was controversial. I guess it was my first attempt at trying to make the point that I'm not here to please everyone and I'm holding Dropzone.com to high standards. There would be no point now in that approach to a webring for Dropzone.com anymore. Then, half my site was defined by the Skydive Ring!

Craig Poxon now regularly posts here and although I still haven't met him I'm hoping he won't kick me in the nuts when he sees me. ;) (Do a search in rec.skydiving for "sangiro porch"!)

Darin Ninness who's page is linked from Craig's actually wrote me a while ago and we had a good laugh. We we're all much more full of shit in 1997. I trust Darin will forgive me for posting part of our e-mail exchange here below. The best trashings I've ever received can still be found right here in these forums... just look for it! Hehehehe!

The best way avoid criticism is to say nothing, do nothing and be nothing.

Sangrio

Just a quick question about how DropZone.com runs. I notice its using Perl,
but is it custom written, or is that a package? Reason I ask is that
I've been working on a site for a year now that we need to get more
well managed, and we've been looking at "content management" packages and tearing
our hair out. DropZone.com has such a nice, simple, easy to use interface that
I had to ask. :)

Thanks, keep up the good work.

Darin,

As you noted Dropzone.com is currently mainly a Perl based site with mySQL
at the back. I had the same troubles as you to find a CMS that will serve
my purposes... I still have that problem.....

Now before I let you on your merry way, just to make sure..... this is the
same Darin Ninness who once had an entire page on his site to tell the world
what an ass I am and busted my balls on rec.skydiving.... right? In Africa
we have a saying: "Elephants never forget" :-)

Glad you like Dropzone.com now. Good luck with the site.

Hahaha.. You got me on that one. Lets just say that I don't have such as
wild hair up my ass any more. Jeez, that was about 3 years ago.. (and, as
you may notice, that page is GONE. Well, so is my whole site, but the one
that replaced it didn't feature anything quite so negative.) You have quite
the memory.

FYI, I like Dropzone.com. You've done a great job. It looks great, and its
VERY usable.

I'll go back to eating my humble pie.

Keep 'em safe!

Yeah, virtual risk doesn't really have the same edge to it, kinda like comparing American beer with European.....
Or Russian vodka with Finnish....

American craft brews now stand up to the best that Europe has to offer. Once upon a time, American beer/ale used to be a joke (e.g., Buttwiper, et al) - but not anymore.

Still, nothing beats Guinness Stout! :S

Gawd, I haven't had Arrogant Bastard for a couple of years now. I used to have a friend in California that sent it to me, but no longer. Hrm, maybe if I order something from Square 1 I can get Lisa to snag me a 6 pack... :)

Sorry to bump this, but I'm not much of a Talk-Back guy and only found this recently after a narcissistic search.

Never kicked anyone in the nuts in my life so you've got no worries Willem. More likely to buy you a beer but looks like I've missed my chance in this country. Oh well, I'm sure it will happen at a dropzone somewhere, someday.

I think the biggest compliment I can pay Willem is to use his forums, but I reserve the right pick holes when necessary!

What is HH real name anyway?

Oh, now that would be too easy just to tell you. Do a search, you'll find it.

Who's Willem

i think the spelling is wrong but it might be somebody we know's first name..... there was an article in parachutist a year or two back that had sangiro's real name in it... i still remeber it......thing is, he is ever so elusive...sorta like "kieser sousaa" from "the usual suspects" everybody's heard of him....the ones that have met him are dead....
