katecooper 0 #1 June 6, 2003 USA network, Monday, 9 June (don't know what time in your area). It's supposedly being shown in 65 countries, so check your local networks. It's a good show. A great show. I know, because I've seen it. Twice. I was lucky enough to work crew for a skydiving demo into the event, and was on site at the Paramount Studios all weekend while they were filming it. Two skydivers get awards. I will not tell more (unless you really want me to spoil the show) but that alone should make you want to watch or tape it. You might see me in the background--I'm the one dressed in black. blue skies k8

katecooper 0 #5 June 6, 2003 less is more, But you'll most likely not see me on tv unless there are shots of the red carpet demo performed (excellently, I might add) by Felix Baumgartner. Again, good show, worth seeing. k8

If we wanted to know, we could have followed the link to the awards; some of us may have wanted to have at least a bit of uncertainty to pique our interest. Faster horses, younger women, older whiskey, more money. Why do they call it "Tourist Season" if we can't shoot them?

Seriously, although skydivers are recognized and that should be celebrated by us, Hollyweird is drowning in "awards" and award shows. It's not enough for stuntmen to have their own union and benefits, etc., now they have to have their own "academy" and "awards show". Geez, what's next? The "Greensmen's Awards"? "Best Gaffer"? "Best Clapper Loader"? "The mouse does not know life until it is in the mouth of the cat."

I didn't realize award shows (from "academies" formed just two years ago) were so important. "The mouse does not know life until it is in the mouth of the cat." katecooper 0 #11 June 6, 2003 They aren't important--they're fun :-) The official name of this event is the Taurus World Stunt Awards. Taurus is a thinly veiled cover for Red Bull. It's in Red Bull's best interest to get extreme stuff on TV. It's all good, it's all fun. There was a LOT of red bull available at the awards. Who needs to sleep? :-) k8

PhreeZone 15 #13 June 6, 2003 Quick write up of the event in USA today today. They did a 2 page article on stuntpeople and the risks that they take. They mentioned a few peoples names so its a tad of a spoiler...Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
