What do you tell people that say Skydiving isnt a sport?

I have many people who refer to skydiving as a "hobby". To me, skydiving IS a sport. You compete against other people, teams, etc. Hell, it's even been in the X-Games.

Do you ever have people that will argue to no end that it isnt a sport? What do you tell them?

Oh I have. Mind you, these are people who have never tried it. Mostly all guys... actually, all guys. I just tell them to take off their dress and come try it with me. I guarantee their opinion would change.

Depends on what sort of person they are; open or close minded.

You'll know within the first 10 second of talking with them.

If they're actually willing to listen, then it's possible to talk about things like the USPA Nationals.

If they're not willing to listen -- fuck 'em. They're a waste of oxygen.

Actually, I agree with them.

To me, anything where the competition is judged isn't a real sport. This is especially true where any of the judging is based on "artistic impression". Artistic impression in sports? What is this, ballet?!?!?

I don't know I was just told that there were tracking comps and after I have my 1000 jumps in that I should do those because of my slow fall rate. Actually, there is a thread in the General skydiving forum about getting on started, but in Moscow.
