What would you say a skydiver wears a helmet for?

Im having a debate with someone. They are saying that its so you dont hit your head on the way out of the plane ( which CAN be true ) and Im saying its for landing, mid air collision, etc...

I wear a helmet to protect my head from hitting the door or tail on exit, from freefall collisions, and from botched landings. It is also a convenient place to hold an audible altimeter or mount a camera, and it does a good job of keeping me from losing my expensive prescription goggles.

It would also do you a lot of good if you had a hard landing involving your head, or hit an obstacle/hazard. I know i kept hitting my head on exit, bang bang

Or more specifically...
People will kick you in RW.
You might screw up an exit and planes are made of hard stuff.
You might screw up a landing and the ground is hard.
Theyre good for holding audible alti's.
They keep your hair out of knots.
Full face helmets keep your face warm in cold weather, and they help deter premature aging.
You can put stickers on them.
They look cool.

My bonehead (I mean the helmet) has some scratches that would have looked pretty nasty on my other bonehead. Not sure what they're from, but I've been known to do some funky exits occasionally.

Skydiving is easy. All you have to do is relax while plummetting at 120 mph from 10,000' with nothing but some nylon and webbing to save you.

/edited to add: after you land, clip it to your chest strap and it also makes a handy bucket to put your goggles, gloves, and altimeter in.

to protect my head from anything I might bash it into. doors, other skydivers, planes, the ground (most likely!). My landings suck. I wouldn't dream of not wearing a helmet.

Also, holds an audible and cuts the wind noise, and keeps my head warm.

3) The ground is harder than my head.
4) I don’t liked being kicked in the face by my mates.
5) I like being conscious under canopy.
6) It keeps my audible in place.
7) It looks cool.
8) I store my gloves and alti in it.
