WTF? Ebay Auction for Tempo 500 container

Recommended Posts

I asked:
where's reserve pop-top, free bag & PC. Why was the reserve opened. DOM for reserve, cypress & container. Container & harness size. Colours on the assuming reserve Tempo 500, how many jumps & repacks have been completed. How many jumps are on the container & where were a majority of the jumps made. Where was the rig stored. And finally, why he's selling....

did I cover everything?

edited to add:
also, why doesn't the cypress have it's batteries & if it has had it's proper check-ups & if so which ones.

There is no can't. Only lack of knowledge or fear. Only you can fix your fear.

The only thing that confuses me here is . . . Why would a thief (or a jumper) see a container that says Javelin and post that it's a Tempo? How stupid do you have to be, whether it's stolen or not? :D:S

Kelly

There was a guy that called the dz one day saying he had a parachute for sale and wanted to know if they would be interested in buying it. He said it was a saveline, tj model. (think about how javeline is written on the container) and it belonged to TJ a guy who jumps at the dz where the idiot was trying to sell it. "TJ" was embroidered on the mudflap. Cops came and arrested said idiot.:D

Don't know, but I've had some one arested for the same thing.

Idiot theif walks into my gear store and say he's got a rig to sell:

Me: What is it?
IT: It's a raven.
Me: I mean what's the container?
IT: Oh its a Raven container.
ME: Oh, I see. What kind of reserve?
IT: It's a Sabre.
Me: He can I see it?
(Rig WAS black and Green but the Green Poptop has now been SPRAY PAINTED black. Checked the s/n# with the stolen gear list in Parachutist, sure enough it's in there)
Me: Hey, hang on I'm very intersted, but I'd like to have my rigging staff take it in back and have a look.
IT: Uhhhh, ok.
(a few minutes pass)
ME: Hey, have you met our sheriff? No? Let me introduce you.:D

It says javelin, but it doesn't look like any javelin I've ever seen. Is that a really old one or what?

Dave

Mine's a '93, and that one is newer than mine. The Javelin embroidery on the yoke I think was added after mine. At least I've never seen any embroidered like that, that were as old, or older, than mine.

I sent a message asking what the the model number was, if there was any information that might indicate what size it was. Also whether od not it came with a parachute or something, or was it just the back-pack? and how much batteries might cost to make it work properly?

It's a newer model with a tuck in reserve coverflap and every thing.

It's either stolen or the person who owned it is gone for some reason.

The fact he knows about batteries is kinda strange unless he took the back of the case off.

The seller is in puerto rico. Which may be why it not showing up in the database.

Wasn't there just a boogie in PR? Does anyone know if gear was lost/stolen? Any way to find out?

Yes. Much fun was had by all. :)
If you weren't there this year you should make it a point to be there next year.

There's some PR locals who hang out here, maybe one of them will know.

I'm scared of the boogie man. And some of the boogie ladies, too. ;)

Someday, when I am pulling at 3500, and when I can handle more than 20 people in the air under canopy at the same time, and when I don't present too much of a danger to others in the sky (I've learned how to backslide really, really well. Now, I need to learn how to stop backsliding...)I will prolly go to a boogie. Until then, I shall fling myself into the sky over Elsinore and Perris....scaring the clouds and various birds, but few folks.

Glad fun was had...I just was thinking maybe something hadn't gotten into the database because people were still coming home, or they don't know about DZ.com, or whatever.

I hope you're right, Jim, and they chime in soon.

Anyone look at the other auctions this guy has had? 2 car stereos, various Jeep parts, Satelite receiver... all "like new" or "barely used." Anyone else see a pattern or is it just my cynical nature to notice things like that? :|

They were the buyer on most of those items, except one of the stereos and this rig.

Sarge -- did you get any answer to your questions?
