Acensky 0 #1 July 19, 2005 I went to see it tonight and it is the funniest movie I have seen in a long time. Johnny Depp did a wonderful job. I don't want to spoil it for the others that have not seen it,so I won't go into the details. I highly recommend this movie. That is all. HeatherGarbage bags do not make good parachutes. skymama 35 #5 July 19, 2005 The kids and I liked it too. I had heard it was a lot darker humor than the original, but I didn't think it was going to be that dark! The squirrels...his braces...the Oompa Loompas...strange, but funny! Was anyone else thinking that Depp's influence for the role was Michael Jackson? He denied it in an interview I read, but some of it seemed strangely familiar. She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon
2fat2fly 0 #6 July 19, 2005 My wife brought up Michael Jackson when she was telling friends about the movie. She hadn't read about it, it seemed obvious to her. We both liked the film, it was quirky and fun. My only complaint was that the theater had the sound too high and I couldn't understand the oompa loompa songsI am not the man. But the man knows my name...and he's worried
Lindsey 0 #7 July 19, 2005 That's funny, Andrea, my kid asked me if Johnny Depp (on a poster) was MJ. It had not crossed my mind. Haven't seen the movie yet.... linz-- A conservative is just a liberal who's been mugged. A liberal is just a conservative who's been to jail
bbarnhouse 0 #8 July 19, 2005 The sheep conjoured up thoughts of clay...the best line in the film was.."Quit mumbling...I can't understand a word you are saying" LOL would make for a great sig line in SC Bwahhhhhhhh
skyyhi 0 #9 July 19, 2005 When I was telling a friend about it I mentioned that it was definitely a lot darker than the original. . .I loved it myself. . .my son and I laughing like mad. . .________________________________________ Take risks not to escape life… but to prevent life from escaping. ~ A bumper sticker at the DZ FGF #6 Darcy

LouDiamond 1 #11 July 19, 2005 If the Psychologists broke it down you would see a lot of manifestations in his attire attributed to his father and his childhood. Take the gloves for example, his father wears latex gloves(being a dentist) and Wonka subsequentially is also wearing latex gloves as an adult. Putting the obvious problem he had with his childhood aside, there are smaller, less obvious scenes that have parallel conotations. There is most definately a darker, Tim burton, side to this story than the original. Still thought it was a great movie even if it wasn't quite like the original."It's just skydiving..additional drama is not required" Some people dream about flying, I live my dream SKYMONKEY PUBLISHING

LouDiamond 1 #13 July 19, 2005 Quotelike what? Think back to the scene where the children first showed up to the factory and the musical piece. The use of fire and the burning of the figurines while singing a happy song can be attributed to his tormented childhood as can his some of his odd, extravagent behaviors. I am no psychologist but I am sure we may see similar topics from actual ones being printed soon on this movie. But then again, some times a cigar is just a cigar "It's just skydiving..additional drama is not required" Some people dream about flying, I live my dream SKYMONKEY PUBLISHING

riddler 0 #15 July 19, 2005 Saw it on IMAX. I thought $13 for a ticket was high, but the theater was packed, so I guess it was worth it. It was pretty good - the visuals were perfect, some of the dialogue was weak, but overall a very fun movie. I think the comparison to Jackson had a lot to do with Depp's look. White makeup and Beetles haircut with latex gloves. That and the high-pitched, squeaky voice. Also, the preview for HP was great!Trapped on the surface of a sphere. Casie 0 #17 July 20, 2005 I liked it as well - the singing was a big cheesy but it goes along with it. Funny story - to get in the spirit of things while the movie started...I decided to eat some starbursts - then my crown decided to come out - YIKES!~Porn Kitty WARNING: Goldschlager causes extreme emotional outbursts! taryn 0 #19 July 21, 2005 I don't know if you guys were aware that this movie was based on the book by Ronald Dahl. The book is darker than the orignal movie with Gene Wilder. Apparently back in the day, Dahl was very upset with the Wilder movie because it deveated from his book. I don't believe Depp's influence was M.J. I think that Depp is quite possible one of the greatest character actors of our generation and he used a combination of Dahl's character and his own imagination to complete what you see on screen. Fantastic Movie!
vamp 0 #20 July 21, 2005 Yep, Rhoad Dahl was ticked off! I really liked it...well worth the four billion dollars or so for a ticket. Depp's Wonka was so hateful. Wonderful.

RedassSkychic 0 #23 July 22, 2005 Quote My only complaint was that the theater had the sound too high and I couldn't understand the oompa loompa songs The lyrics for the songs were taken right out of the book, if you want to look them up. The movie pretty much followed the book down to many direct quotes; that part about Willy Wonka's childhood, however, was nowhere in the book. I really enjoyed the movie, all said and done. The oompa loompa's dance numbers were hilarious.
BGill 0 #24 July 22, 2005 it's crazy that the one dude had to do every single movement for the oompa loompas. think about all those dance numbers where there are hundreds of oompa loompas dancing, then think of him having to vary the dance just slightly for each take. props to him.
