Music help

Recommended Posts

I could recommend you some stuff that is a bit chilled, tinge electronica but no where near trance/ techno..

Phoenix <--awesome
Audio Bullys
Crazy Penis (don't be fooled by the name.. their best album is called 'Wicked is Music')

try those first and see what you think..

Jack Johnson is always good

And if you like that whole rock/ alternative stuff, try Powderfinger - they are hugggge in Australia (& good too)

Oh I love Artful Dodger, the best album = It's All About the Stragglers

There you go.. that's a whole range of different music types!

Try sone "Deathcab for Cutie" too

"Plans" was stuck in my CD player for about a month.

Sufjan Stevens is good 'chill' music.

The New Pornographers, The White Stripes, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Mobius Band... all good stuff.

Here's a variety of artists and a few songs that I like...

Pato Banton ("Don't Sniff Coke", "Legalize it", "Absolute Perfection"), Robin Trower ("Bridge of Sighs", "Twice Removed From Yesterday"), Bif Naked ("I Died", "Moment of Weakness"), Suicidal Tendencies ("Institutionalized"), Cake (they're all good), Dread Zeppelin (they're all good), Faith No More ("We Care A Lot", "From Out of Nowhere"), Frank Zappa (anything from the album Joe's Garage Vol 1), George Winston ("Linus and Lucy Theme"), Henry Mancini (they're all good), Human League ("Human", "Love Action", "I am the Law") Johnny Cash (his versions of "Personal Jesus" and NIN's "Hurt" are sweet), Willie Nelson ("Blue Skies"), Living Colour ("Cult of Personality"), The Art of Noise (they're all good), Masters of Reality ("Domino", "Gettin' High", "Kill the King"), Ministry ("All Day Remix", "Over the Shoulder"), OMD (Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark - "Secret", "So in Love", "If you leave"), Orgy ("Stitches"), Stereo MC's ("Connected"), They Might Be Giants (they're all good), Timbuk 3 (they're all good), Violent Femmes ("Add it up", "Blister in the Sun", "Gone Daddy Gone"), Pennywise ("Mrs Robinson", "California Dreaming")...

I didn't know Pato Banton covered Legalize It. I'll have to find that. Judging by the rest of your list, you might be interested in Easy Star All Stars' Dub Side of the Moon, a reggae version of Pink Floyd's classic album. I don't like most covers, but this one is very good, at times better than the original. (Never thought I would say that.)

Queens of the Stone Age, a little on the heavier side but good none the less.

Heavy???? If you want heavy try some Atreyu or some Bleeding Through...THAT'S heavy.

I fall asleep to the lulling sounds of queens of the stone age.

Lisa...get Bloc Party, Way Out West, or some Wilco. If all this doesn't show my musical range in tastes I don't know what does.

I'm listening to A Silver Mt Zion right now... I doubt anybody here has heard of it but it's very unique, check it out if you get a chance. It's not for everyone though, for sure. Their best album is Born Into Trouble as the Sparks Fly Upward...

Since you obviously have plenty of alternative ideas:

I hate to admit it....

But Mariah Carey's "Emancipation of Mimi" is really good--every track.

I'd also add Joss Stone & White Stripes to your collection.
Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

Try the new Gorillaz album, Demon Dayz, very cool. Some hip hop vocals but it's all good. :)

I love track 12, the "Dare" song...:)
Gets stuck in my head all day...

Dirty Harry is the one that sticks with me. I like 'Demon Days' better than 'Gorillaz' - there was only maybe 2 songs on Gorillaz that I liked.
