McDuck 0 #8 May 19, 2006 I figured it wouldn't be able to live up to the expecations the book may or may not have set for people. I enjoyed the book as a work of fun and fiction, but the theatre of the mind is a place that few filmmakers can adequately capture.Kevin - Sonic Beef #5 - OrFun #28 "I never take myself too seriously, 'cuz everybody know fat birds don't fly." - FLC Online communities: proof that people never mature much past high school. MLKSKY 0 #9 May 19, 2006 Well, the book sucked so why would the movie be any better?
ccowden 0 #10 May 19, 2006 QuoteDid you see it? Yep- Got an "unauthorized" viewing of it. You better be a downright expert on the book if you think you are going to enjoy, let alone even follow, this movie. They tried way too hard with this one and basically get caught trying to make a 2 hour movie out of a book that would require the movie to be more like a week-long documentary. It's crap. Not even good just as it's own movie, leaving alone that it is a screenplay for the book. It's getting pretty bad reviews from most places and is another movie that was hyped up WAY too much. The sad thing is, there are alot of people who want this movie to be good, so they will say it is good no matter what. If you can go watch it and be unbiased, I can't believe you will think it is very good. It ranks up there with that one where he was stranded on the island and befriends a volleyball. What the heck was the name of that piece of crap?
ccowden 0 #11 May 19, 2006 Doesn't even come close! Take my warning: If you enjoyed the book, DO NOT go see the movie. They don't deserve your six bucks. Do yourself a favor and go buy 2 gallons of over-priced gas and help make Exxon execs rich. At least THEY make a product that you can get some use out of. skymama 35 #12 May 19, 2006 Here's my vote for a movie if someone doesn't want to see Da Vinci Code. Rent "Murderball". It's a cool documentary about paraplegic wheelchair rugby players. It's not your typical "feel-good, look at the poor paralyzed people" movie, these guys are out to win!She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon
rehmwa 2 #13 May 19, 2006 "An Unfinished Life" was a good one too. I can't see going 2-1/2 hours to see a movie which was just a marginally entertaining book. A book where the content seems to me to not be very compatible with a film format. ... Zipp0 1 #15 May 19, 2006 Rent "Goodfellas" and play the drinking game I invented. Take a sip of beer whenever one goodfella says the name of another goodfella. When someone is whacked, chug. I call it "Drunkfellas". Zipp0 -------------------------- Chuck Norris doesn't do push-ups, he pushes the Earth down.

Isn't the Roman Catholic Church doing an outstanding job of advertising for it tho! exactly! and other Christian groups as well. in some countries the film has actually been banned. in fact, the Christian groups' outbursts may well save this film from the financial ruin that would have happened otherwise (assuming the film sucks as bad as everyone says it does). briguy 0 #18 May 19, 2006 What made you think they could make an intersting movie out of a crappy, boring, boring, crappy book? If you want a good documentary, rent Gunner Palace. Great choice for Memorial Day. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

bigway 4 #23 May 19, 2006 It did SUCK! I have only read 50 pages of the book and got so much more enjoyment of it i walked out half way through so i could go home and continue the book. This has to be Tom Hank's worst movie I can remember. It is not slow but is very boring and there is just no 'acting' taking place. It is like someone speaking that has a continual drone in their voice that just keeps going. I can't believe I waited so long for this movie. .Karnage Krew Gear Store . That didn't even get it filled,,I refused to spend More than the 100., matter of principal.. Thanks for the heads up man.. I tried to read the book and just never picked it up again after maybe 75 pages... i sorta don't follow the whole "thing".. i don't know about any "code", but I do like DaVinci's inventions and art work, and he does have a cool beard!!.As for Tom, he's a wideranging actor, and has created some decent characters,,, (green mile, jimmy duggan, money pit, saving private ryan,) but some others have been forgettable. Ron Howard ?,,, I like him,, cause he always gives his brother (and sometimes his father) a job !! and besides... he's "Opie Cunningham", for cryin' out loud!!! hahaha .....signed jimmy DaVinci .................. ...
