skymama 35 #3 August 7, 2007 What do you mean to "make the site behave normally"? normiss 622 #5 August 7, 2007 My guess is that you have Microsnot Internet Exploder configured with default settings, accepting third-party cookies. There are currently 5 e-bay cookies that download upon initial loading of dizzie.com. I refuse them, and I always end up back at the beginning of a thread as opposed to where I left off the last time I was in the thread. If I foolishly allow the cookies, it puts me back where I left. I try my best to never allow third party cookies as they are as distrustful as third party checks and are often the beginning of spyware and adware HELL! ebay ebayobjects ebayrtm are the ones I remember...maybe an adbrite one also... skymama 35 #7 August 7, 2007 In the Privacy Statement, it says, "Cookies are not programs that come onto a user's system and damage files." So, how are they the beginning of spyware and adware hell? I'm not trying to be a pain, I'm just trying to understand. You know my computer technical skills are quite limited. normiss 622 #9 August 7, 2007 then the privacy statement is incorrect. cookies DO indeed come into a user's system and are very capable of damage.
Rick 67 #10 August 7, 2007 yo Mark where do I go to block all third party cookies? I could not find that option in internet exploderYou can't be drunk all day if you don't start early!
normiss 622 #11 August 7, 2007 IE6: tools internet options privacy advanced override automatic cookie handling accept first party personally...I prefer the prompt option for third party so I can see and decide whether or not I want the cookie... the e-bay attempts here are rather intrusive in my opinion...LOTS of browser hijack attempts. let me know if you're using ie7

Was there and EBay Google ad on that page? I've never seen an EBay Google ad here but of course the ads vary depending on where you are. Not sure how else EBay content would make it from this site to your PC.Safe swoops Sangiro
normiss 622 #15 August 7, 2007 the banner ads at the top of this page, they open e-bay pages with content and cookies... also notice the status bar as the ads load...a few browser hijacks start...or at least try to
BillyVance 34 #16 August 7, 2007 I've never had this problem... so I don't know what to say. I have my firewall up so I never see a pop-up ad but that doesn't stop the cookies and adware files from taking residence in my computer, but nothing that a regular sweep with Spy Sweeper and other virus programs can't handle."Mediocre people don't like high achievers, and high achievers don't like mediocre people." - SIX TIME National Champion coach Nick Saban
normiss 622 #17 August 7, 2007 I only have this issue on my work pc. We're behind a proxy server, but the firewall is weak. I don't get any issues with cookies or spyware at home....and they aren't a real issue here so much as just an annoyance.

pwln 0 #20 August 9, 2007 Update your HOSTS file. I get no ad's on most web sites I visit. I know that's how sites make extra money and all, but if I want something I'll go and look for it. Some anti Spyware programs will have an option to update your HOSTS file. Basically most ad servers are pointed to nothing.

pwln 0 #22 August 9, 2007 One way can be found here http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm You can also use the Immunize feature in Spybot S&D for some stuff. I have basically followed the directions on the mvps site. here is what the HOSTS file looks like. pwln 0 #23 August 9, 2007 I did want to point out I still get ads from reach.dropzone.com and I don't mind them. After I posted I got a big Skydive Arizona Ad at the top of my page. I still have not seen ads at the bottom of the page.

pwln 0 #25 August 9, 2007 That's too bad. Maybe you should put one in there. Whatever OS you are using you "can" have one. I think "someone" is looking at my posts. I seem to be getting more ads from dz server now.
