Facebook needs a way to acknowledge family members, but not let them stalk you.

Or do you guys have a solution?

I have a sister that's beginning to bug me. I can't do anything without her commenting on it or joining some group she has no business even knowing about. I can't just "defriend" her, but FFS she doesn't need to be involved in every comment I make on FB either.

Is there a way to categorically limit family members?

create a "list" or "group" then change your security settings and only allow that list or group to view minimal items on your page

I just unfriended my brother and sister in law who I love dearly but can't stomach any more of the ultra conservative, right wing, lunatic fringe bullshit he suscribes to that shows up on my wall every few hours.

I think I'm going to write to FB and suggest they add a few options options;

Family
RW Friends
LW Friends

This way you could make a post and enjoy it with friends, but not the extremist wackos that are going to start a fist fight over a joke.

Ok, I made a list with family members which makes it easy for me to see what they've posted, but can't for the life of me figure out how to limit what they can see of what I've posted.

when you update your status there is a little picture of a lock. click on that then choose customize. you can then choose who can and cannot see your status.
you can do the same when you make photo albums.

I went further and created a list for status update and only those people get to see the status, everyone else is on a restricted basis only. That way if I add someone as a friend they don't see anything until I approve what they see.

1 good friend in real life
