LOL, those aren't "old" movies! Whata you guys like 30?

The Maltese Falcon and the rest of the film noir movies from the 30s and 40s are the great old movies. Rather then a steady stream of lame one liners they had great writing and dialogue, and you know, a plot . . .

I wonder how much a set of plugs costs for a B-36? :D (Trivia question: how many spark plugs would you need to replace all of them?)

There are 56 of them.

Nope . . .

6 engines X 28 cylinders/engine X 2plugs/cylinder = 336 plugs

Of course, that's not counting the ignitors in the 4 jet engines. :)

Hi Speed,

Alfred Hitchcock movies are still great.

Might I then recommend Woody Allen's MATCH POINT?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Or the Mel Brooks movie High Anxiety!

So why is it I just cannot put those two movies in the same category? :S

Absolutely!!!!!!!!

And a great one is: Double Indemity

I've probably watched ~20 times; it used to be on the late show rather regularly when I was a kid. :)

PS) Is my age showing? [:/]

PPS) The late show was what was on before there was a TONIGHT show or a Letterman. :o

I've been populating my Netflix queue by starting at the top of this and working my way down:

http://www.imdb.com/chart/top

(Beware the over-rating they give to newer movies.
e.g. "Dark Knight" is listed here at #10, and that was the worst movie I've seen in the past year.)

I've had some very pleasant surprises watching flicks I'd never heard of from this list.

That is a good list. I've seen almost everything on it and they are all excellent movies... except for anything voted on there recently. E.g I haven't seen 176 'How to Train Your Dragon', but if it is better than 177 'The Wages of Fear', I will eat my rig.
Just one I noticed on there, 'The Night of the Hunter', is an incredible piece of cinema. There's too many to recommend... but I think a grown man who hasn't seen 'The Wild Bunch' must somehow feel that something is missing from his life... :)

Another piece of trivia I learned over on rec.aviation.piloting just a couple of years ago ...the jets burned avgas, not jp4.

Have you seen "The Hurt Locker"? That should be in there somewhere. :)

Not in my opinion.
I wasted two hours watching that rehash of old war movie cliches.
