Anyone else having trouble with Tonysuits

Recommended Posts

Ordered a tony suit in December and paid for the rush. Ordered a black suit with the tunnel option. Both me and the person who measured me, a respectable dealer, thought the zp would be meshed in the middle like ouragon and other companies do. Nope on the outside making it very hard to fly. Send it back and they have to rebuild. That was beginning of February. Was told last week it was scheduled to be out on the 5th on May. Find out today on the 10th that "it has been cut and should be ready any day now". Really.Really. I could understand a month maybe month and a half, but three months. Cannot understand how it could take this long. Customer service has been nice but taking this long is to much. And the fact that they say any day now. Would not recommend them. I paid 500 dollars for a suit and still am not able to use it. Anyone else having problems with them?

I trust it is going to be a great suit. Its just that when you pay for rush and they make a mistake and then have to rebuild how come it takes longer to rebuild than it did to build it in the first place. I mean three months. You can get a custom rig in that amount of time.

I having a hard time picturing just what you mean here. You talking about a mesh underliner?

Pics?

That's complicated construction, but if there's a right way and a wrong way to do it, by all means they should have fixed it. Quickly would have been the best, seeing as how you paid for the rush. It sucks that it's taken so long. Tony has a good reputable company. I'm sure he'll do right by you. If the suit doesn't show up soon, maybe you could contact him directly.

I have only ever heard great things about TonySuits. And I have a couple of different things from him and have never had a problem. I would ask why they did that. I know the one suit I have from him is a little different. But it's made to inflate like that to slow my fat ass down. Are you bigger maybe and he thought you need that? I don't know. All I know is I asked for something to slow me down and that's EXACTLY what I got. :)

No like ouragon says on their website. Layer of material then zp then material. Not zp material on the outside making it balloon up like the Michelin man

sounds unnecessary and complicated

or he put the suit on inside out

On two occasions I paid the rush charge to Flite Suit and had problems with the suits when they arrived. One time was their error, and the other one was mine. In both cases I shipped the suit back, and they had it back in the UPS truck the very next day. It was literally in their shop for 30 hours.

To be fair to them, I also paid the rush charge for two other suits (I like their suits), and those arrived as ordered, problem free, in about 10 days.

I had problems with a TonySuit but because he was testing out a new material, which didn't "behave" the way other stuff did when you sew it (ie: there was a lot of extra material when I put it on).

I went back to show him (I was in ZHills), and they picked out the threads and tried a bunch of times to fix it and finally ended up using almost entirely new materials (ie: re-building another new suit)... It was a bit of an experiment, which explains all the faffing around, but my point is he wouldn't let me leave until it was perfect - even when I thought it was "fine".

I've bought from them time and again for this reason... They're honest and they're good and they care about their customers. Don't kid yourself - fixing a problem on an already-built suit takes more time than making it from scratch... Plus they might be super busy this time of year... Be nice to them - they will sort you out. Sorry to hear about the wait, but I'm sure it will be worth it :)

and my wife is Skimmer and she makes my suits

but, dear sir, I very much contest with your use of the word "FREE" in terms of being married to a suitmaker

we pay, and pay, and pay, and pay

to the OP - suitmaking is difficult and skydivers all have different ideas of what they need combined with an inability to measure correctly.

Tony makes a great product. Talk to them and let them know what's up. I'm sure he'll make it right for you.

My experience with them is that they make VERY good suits but you are going to end up waiting a long time for them.

The last RW suit they made for me was done ordered in May (a busy time I would expect) and done in about 4 weeks, without a rush charge.
