In this regard, I think the part of human history in which we live SUCKS.

A couple hundred years ago we had no idea what was out there: we just made stuff up. And to be honest, we're finding stuff out there that knocks the stuff we imagined into a cocked hat.

A few hundred years from now (assuming we aren't wiped off the planet by Mother Nature or ourselves) we'll have the technology to go check out all this cool stuff.

But right now we're stuck in the middle: we have the technology to look around us and see all the super-cool stuff that is out there, but we don't yet have the technology to GO there and see it with our own eyes, so to speak.

I'm amazed by it's orbit. I wonder what kind of gravitational/tidal forces you'd see there....

I dunno. If I haven't made a mistake with the gazintas it looks like the diamond planet's diameter is about 2500 times bigger than it's star. And with a "year" lasting a little over 2 hours! Amazing stuff!

Probably don't want to get too close, though! :)

good god how fast ois that thing spinning around it's star?
Im' not a rocket scientist but a mass that heavy spinning that fast would in theory twist and churn the fabric of space right?

Money will be the incentive for us to go there. If we discover diamond-planets in our own solar system, the space race will be on. If we found some great source of energy out there, it would be even better.

Once a year ....just like all the other planets.:)

Space was built to take it. Ripstop, I think.:)

I don't think it's heavy enough to do anything. In my opinion, that neutron star is more interesting than the planet.

You guys realize if this planet was accessible to us it would make diamonds literally worthless. It would become the most common commodity over even top soil.

Hint hint nudge nudge diamonds are already worthless.
It just so happens that there are a few very well placed companies that own all rights to mining them.
I've had a chance to visit one while in RSA and was amazed.

Diamonds aren't worthless. They are worth whatever gullible people are willing to pay for a chunk of carbon that just happens to sparkle. It wasn't until early last century that DeBeers started their massive marking campaign to make those shiny chunks of near worthless carbon the symbol of never ending love that a man must buy for his woman.

Sigh...... suckers.
