Speaking of the Lord Of The Rings, I took this pic last night during a company dinner at The Cheesecake Factory. Everyone was talking about this thing resembling Sauron's Eye. LMAO... Damned things were all over the restaurant!

Sauron's eye is not the first thing that came to mind. :P

I'm gonna bump this thread instead of starting a new one. Not directed at 'lauraliscious" just picked you to respond to.

The Hobbit, desolation of smaug, sucked ass!! I'm going to try not to add any spoiler alerts,but...

The LOTR movies pretty much followed the story line of the books, not exactly but close enough for a movie. The first part of The Hobbit pretty much followed the story line of the book, with some extras thrown in as filler.

This new movie only very loosely follows the story line of the book. Makes it very hard to watch if you know the story. It also has entirely to much not in the book filler.

It is very hard to watch, is just a bad movie overall. Not nearly as good as the LOTR or the first hobbit. I came very close to walking out of the theatre. That is all.

"The Atlantic" has called it Peter Jackson's bad fan fiction version of the story.

I can't exactly disagree. It especially pisses me off that he felt it necessary to add so much BS that's not in the book. I can understand expanding on certain things, but just inventing characters out of thin air for no damn good reason is silly.

(May contain spoilers)

I was THRILLED with LOTR and how they did it. The Hobbit? Not too bad. no problem really - my comments are above

........ The Desolation of Smaug...Well, it's a transition movie....so I didn't expect much and was still disappointed......(all I wanted was to follow the story (NO), add some good effects and a cool dragon (yes, dragon was cool) and flesh out the Gandalf vs the Necromancer plot because it's something needed and fun (fleshed out? yes. Could have done something better with it? yes) - not quite two out of three isn't bad.....but the 1 of 3 not followed was butchered). I was wishing I hadn't read the books ever, then it would have been a good flick.

OK, cool, it's starting....ok, fun enough.....nice....who the hell is that?.....ok....he was done nicely....kinda skipped a few bits....ok....where the heck was that from......who the hell is that?......what the......what the.....who the.....can we please get back on the story line?.....ok,.....nice, I hoped they'd explore that part.......who the hell IS that.....why the hell do they need to put HIM in this movie......what the......ha ha ha ha clever......they didn't DO that.....or that....or THAT.....seriously?....can we please get back to the original story line?.....ok, we're back......nope, we're off.....who the hell is that?....they didn't do that....not that.....what's the point of this new stuff.....they aren't supposed to be there.......this is interesting.....ok,....ok....... ohhhhh kay.....yawn, any time now.....why would he keep taking it off his finger?......neat effects.....what's the point here?.....fine................................yawn.................that was cool, so was that.......seriously? they're doing it THAT way? ...... who the hell is that?..........can we wrap it up .............ok................whatever,

I'm not a LOTR nerd and haven't read any on of those books so I don't have that baggage and as result I found it fairly entertaining movie. On the other hand I went into to see CGI porn sprinkled with some fantasy aspects and in that aspect it delivered. There was only one CGI effect that really bothered me but the rest was very nice.
Your rights end where my feelings begin.

I have yet to see it but will, soon I hope,, there are a few secret rewrites with add in texts storylineing the silameril and how neptheya was one of smogs enemy's ,, a blue draggon , his father the creator of the arcin stone,, and other story concepts, at tolkens archive. Heres another crazy kid thing,, you know how bible might mean basic instructions before leaving earth,, and a bib will do, like for child,, bilbo baggens,, or the bible begins, ,
