  1. So much for the great discount. "Promotional Code could not be applied because of its expiry." Would you mind un-expiring, and I'll try again? o|-< If you don't believe me, ask me.
  2. Me2. What a tribute that 4 years later, people still post to her memorial page. (>o|-< If you don't believe me, ask me.
  3. All good stuff. Amigrams are cool, but a little obscure. Maybe combine that idea with something. I like feuergnom's best, but think it could do better with the purple/grey yin/yang background. Time for a nap. (>o|-< If you don't believe me, ask me.
  4. On a PC, press print screen for the whole screen, or alt-print screen for the current/selected application. Then you need something to paste it into, like Windows Paint. I use Irfanview for simple stuff. (>o|-< If you don't believe me, ask me.
  5. Yo! 812 Can I put a letter in front, like I-812? (>o|-< If you don't believe me, ask me.
  6. I was gonna get all mad about you beating me to #42 but then I sat down until I didn't feel like it any more. o|-< If you don't believe me, ask me.
  7. No, but he might know who it is. Nope, not me. It's stock stuff they spent money on, in spite of me telling everyone in marketing who will listen that I can get this kind of stuff, and have much stock of my own. I have this theory about marketing departments that they think if you're a professional within the company, you can't possibly be professional at anything else - or even good enough to meet their "standards". Read the last couple chapters of book 2 of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (or the last episode of the TV series - I don't recall where it was inteh radio series). The part where the marketing committee on prehistoric Earth was arguing about the difficulties they've been having with the invention of the wheel and showing their prototye (hexagonal with the axle attached to the side of the wheel, rather than through it). Ford says "Difficulty??!?! It's the single simplest machine in the entire universe!!" and the marketing chick says "OK, Mr. Wise Guy, you're so smart - You tell us what colour it should be!" (>o|-< If you don't believe me, ask me.
  8. Wow, I hadn't noticed that. Even if you set the movie media to mem stick, it still only dubs Int --> Mstk. Note to self: If I need to dub mem to mem, record on internal! Good thing I intuitively did it that way for the TV guys for the demo last week! (>o|-< If you don't believe me, ask me.
  9. That's what we ended up doing and it works great, thanks! (>o|-< If you don't believe me, ask me.
  10. I figured it was supposed to be, but it's not lathed enough. When you put the screw in all the way, it's tight and doesn't turn freely. The threads are still engaged. A pro friend of mine helped me out. We basically cranked the screw all the way into the plate, and overtightened a little and worked it until it loosened up. Probably stripped the threads, but it works and doesn't fall out. Thanks for all the help! (>o|-< If you don't believe me, ask me.
  11. That was my first thought, but wanted to check with the experts before voiding my right to return it. Thanks! (>o|-< If you don't believe me, ask me.
  12. Hey gang Just got a Shumacher quick release and the camera mount hole is threaded. I can't get the camera secured properly. My other plates (Stroboframe and tripod stuff) are not threaded on the plate. Am I doing something wrong, or is this plate built wrong? Peter (>o|-< If you don't believe me, ask me.
  13. I just got a CX100. Stuck my Royal/Diamond .3 on it and the center looks great but the edges are crap - look out of focus. Also some colour bleed along edges - the edge of my arm looked blue in uneven light. Trusy old Kenko .42 looked better, but still not optimal. This was just in the living room. I'll try it jumping too. Raynox 3032 on the way. (>o|-< If you don't believe me, ask me.
  14. Got mine today. Thanks. Any chance we can buy back issues? I'd particularly like a few copies of #222. I'd settle for just the front cover! And if you ever decide to open it back up, we'll re-subscribe, even at higher prices. Blue skies and take care. (>o|-< If you don't believe me, ask me.
  15. We use the big detergent jugs full of sand. Same thing. (>o|-< If you don't believe me, ask me.
  16. Yeah, the fun with pyro and smoke is it might work, it might not, or it might blow yer friggin foot off. (>o|-< If you don't believe me, ask me.
  17. These guys need serious help with their web site. Those scroll bars are annoying. (>o|-< If you don't believe me, ask me.
  18. Why waste a perfectly good wingsuit? Give him an umbrella and say "It worked for Mary Poppins..." (>o|-< If you don't believe me, ask me.
  19. I stopped by yesterday on my way back from a meeting to check out the site. Forgot my camera, so used the one in my phone. Pix posted in my gallery. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/gallery/imageFolio.cgi?direct=Personal_Galleries/TitaniumLegs Hopefully that works... (>o|-< If you don't believe me, ask me.
  20. Can they be used to remove the RSL from a Javelin? To beat the come-back peeps to the punch: "Yes, but only if you're a Master Rigger" (>o|-< If you don't believe me, ask me.
  21. I have a number of problems with this "policy". 1. (Until they recently updated it) it did not seem to consider those activities in which an RSL is an arguable liability. Camera and CRW were already mentioned, but there are others, such as skysurfing (yes, there are still some of us around) and some other freefall toys. I imagine tube jumpers might want to be able to ditch the tube and their main in the event of an entanglement before their RSL does them any favours. Being allowed to disconnect it before the jump renders the whole thing kinda pointless. Why not just remove it??? Even if I have a place to put it, it's still more crap sticking out unnecessarily. 2. There is a world of difference between removing the lanyard and removing the rings and/or velcro. Removing the lanyard requires no tools or removal of any stitching. While I see valid reasons to remove the lanyard, I see not point in removing the rings or velcro. Leave them there in case you ever change you mind or sell your rig. 3. The lanyard is *designed* to be removed. That's why it's not sewn or fastened. How is this a mod? 4. Removing the lanyard only is not "permanent". It can be reinstalled most easily during reserve repack, or with the aid of a single temp pin, at any time. Granted, this is rigger work (senior or master). 5. (And this is the big one). If removal of the RSL lanyard is illegal, then this ruling makes it illegal to cut away a main from a Javelin when an RSL is installed and connected. As written, the user "The user can “disengage” the RSL lanyard by disconnecting the snap shackle, only in an emergency situation." This means the only way a user can remove the RSL is by unhooking the snap shackle. When you cut away, the snap shackle is the only thing still connected (usually). Sounds ridiculous? If we're interpreting the bulletin to make it illegal to remove a removable component, then the same "interpretation logic" (or lack thereof) can be applied here. This isn't one of my beefs, but one answer to the question why there is no date to this is that the law has always been in effect (at least long enough to cover this). This bulletin is simply interpretation. This is also why there is no grace period to comply. It's a federal regulation that has been in effect, and Sun Path does not have the authority to grant a grace period to a FAR. Ladies and gentlemen, this is seriously weak. (>o|-< If you don't believe me, ask me.
  22. Excellent point! (>o|-< If you don't believe me, ask me.
  23. Saw this on a motorcycle forum... "U.S. Senator Susan Collins (R-ME) and U.S. Senator Russ Feingold (D-WI) recently introduced S. 616, "The HIPAA Recreational Injury Technical Correction Act.” Identical legislation passed the full Senate in the 108th Congress and obtained 177 bipartisan cosponsors in the House. S. 616 aims at ending health care discrimination for individuals participating in legal transportation and recreational activities-activities like motorcycling, snowmobiling, skiing, horseback riding, and all-terrain vehicle riding. " And here . The examples don't say skydiving, but I suspect it applies. It seems broad enough. Anybody (with the legal and/or political knowledge) want to look at this and figure out what we should do to support it? Just add our votes on the motorcycle forum? (>o|-< If you don't believe me, ask me.
  24. I've never been restricted from carrying a rig based on weight. That includes flying tiny puddle jumpers (like a Caravan from Honolulu to Maui - Yes, we were tempted to jump, and the FO was a jumper!). (>o|-< If you don't believe me, ask me.
  25. feeblemind and skydivexxl have offered. I've provided them the info for the vendors for the Shannon (and other) patches and stickers. Gotta run... Blues Peter (>o|-< If you don't believe me, ask me.
