I am got coming down on anyone, but something to ponder simply from an economic point of view, do people making $45k a year really add to the governments coffers? Single people making $45k, sure, but not the ones with families. They are actually a net loss when it comes to contributing taxes. So, if collected taxes pay for all the services previously mentioned in the posts above, but the avg person isnt paying for those services once you look at the net instead of the gross, who does that leave to pay for it all? Not really...it's a numbers game. Start has several hundred regular jumpers and staff. So 1 out of several hundred responding isn't weird. What one might consider weird, is 2 people from competing DZs, whose number of jumpers combined still totals less than 100, has posted to this thread. Hmmm. This is a stupid argument. As Lepka already mentioned anyone can view Starts loads online and check the numbers for themselves. If that's not enough, anyone can drive out there and see for themselves. It's not hard to confirm their numbers once you see the crowd, as well as the fact they have been running back to back loads on two turbine aircraft. This is just another thread to grind an ax. It's a streetbike, of course he was speeding. /sarcasm One of the reasons I got rid of my sport bikes is because I was constantly tired of being profiled and harassed. This accident is a great example of another reason I got rid of them. Dumb drivers. Speed didnt look to be an issue in this case. I would be very curious if he was wearing a helmet or any armor though. I would also be curious to see what his experience level was. Riding a bike is like flying a parachute, head on a swivel. In high traffic areas I typically let my rpms stay high so people could hear me and was always conscious of other cars "towing the line." I think we are having a communication issue. When I say "shit happens" i basically mean expect the unexpected, or the chaos factor. If something can go wrong it eventually will. If you look back at my posts my "shit happens" factor was in response to another base jumper that claims you can control every factor in base. I disagree with that statement. Just because "shit happens" doesnt mean there wasnt error involved. I had a 180 last night on a low freefall. The pack job was immaculate, body position was great, solid 1.5 sec delay from 270. So what caused it? Who knows. The jumper before me had the exact same 180. Maybe it was the wind coming off the trees, maybe it was rotoring off the pillars, maybe we both had PC hesitations, maybe we both messed up our packjobs, maybe we both dropped a shoulder. Who knows, but despite looking at multiple camera angles many times we cant figure it out. This is the "shit happens" factor i am talking about.
