  6. Wow now that SkySlut mentions it he is in the first few skydives on the video.... I've watched the vids quite a few times and I just started to notice that the camera man did catch everyone else.... oh and skyslut your pictures have been uploaded to a webserver but the sysadmin for it needs to respond to my e-mail and give the rest of the world permission to see em.
  7. My favorite part is when I do a solid 360 on the third sidebuddy and the music is keyed to "you spin me right round" hehehehe.
  8. I was in Florida for 2 weeks and I have the following video to show for it. It's rather large (30 megs (13 mins)) so right click on the link below and do a save as onto your computer before trying to view it. http://pigeon.mkl.com/~dexter/skydive/dexter.WMV I am the guy with the red z1. (tail slot most jumps) One of the skydives in the beginning of the movie is my 200th jump.
  9. Here I am in Florida quite exausted (but not too tired to keep going) from jumping my ass off.... Last week I was jumping in Sebastian while attending Skydive University's "the search"... The week started with some overviews of what was going on when during the week and then we went straight into Scott Millers canopy control classes/jumps... As many people know Scott knows his shit. The canopy section of the search covered alot of what new jumpers need to keep their knees above their shins and have fun while doing it... After the canopy jumps were done and the weather was iffy for 1 on 1 coached dives from altitude the SDU crew went straight into many different seminars to make the weather not get everyones spirits down... Pete Allum from Sebastain XL had a magical ability to cause the clouds to part whenever he got well into a seminar. (a skill that came in handy as the weather was not quite optimal) the seminars that were given through the week covered almost every aspect of formation skydiving from center point turns... 4 way communication... exit dynamics... visualzation strategys.. The search participants ranged from people with crisp new A licenses to people who had been jumping for years looking to get to the next level. Everyone I talked to gained a shitload of experience and new ways to practice the skydiving they were interested in. I jumped with Thomas from Sebastain XL for my 1 on 1 dives and had a blast. Some skydivers just radiate skill when you jump with them and he is no exception... Every coach I ran into during the search welcomed me with open arms. The search also included 20 minutes of tunnel time. I, Erik Peterson am now a tunnel addict. turn slide fowards backwards turn slide dock..... got that under control? ok do em all at once.. dizzy dizzy dizzy..... After the coaches and the tunnel time was done with we went on to 4 way... 2 on 2 4way with 2 coaches and 2 'students'... everyone came out with some great video of some solid skydives. Then there were the 3 students one coach jumps... the level of sucess didn't peter out when only one sdu coach was around... I'd recommend SDU coaching 3esp the search to anyone who is looking good solid skydivers who also know how to teach. I'll post some of my videos/pics once I return home... now I'm off to get back in the air...
  10. Great job! With saved forecasts it would be neat to be able to set a template for the weather you like to jump in and have a little icon on your saved forecast page for where it is "jumpable". Perhaps on user account creation you could set up low, medium, high, and too high values for winds so you could have little warning pictures on the saved forecase lists. If you were a spoiled brat and living in a place with more then one dz within 4 hours you could quickly have the forecasts listed in "preferable" order... the site is very slick! I love the wind chill calculations! cya around john Erik Peterson
  11. 4 days 7 hours 37 mins 10 seconds until my flight leaves to Florida. I'll be in florida for 16 days, ~5 hours. I'm going to be useless at work the next few days....
  12. normal?, sorry... sorry no way to get they-ah from he-yar... nowhere on the damned disclaimer I signed did it warn me about the costs of manditory trips to warmer climates during the winter... or how nothing can seem to adequatly occupy my time during weekends when it is too cold to jump... or the dangers of how I now get target fixation whenever I see an object in the sky fly by.. even if I'm driving.. good luck... glad you enjoyed your first jump.. may there be many more... and may normal never return....
  13. next time yare cisco gear goes down just gimmie a ring I'll give ya a skydiver discount...50% off my normal consulting fees...

I think it's a perfectly valid argument for AAD's; It's one of the ways you can justify an AAD to yourself (or to nagging people you might respect) without having to admit you aren't perfect. Lots of people who use that argument will never forget to pull; on the other hand, if not for the fear of knocking themselves out, some skydivers would not wear an AAD. noone ever thinks they will not be able to pull *their* handles... If you ever do a jump where you belive you can't get to a handle you are a dumbass... so without this lame argument in favor of AAD's people will die. I wear an AAD... just in case someone else knocks me out.. because obviously I'm perfect otherwise.... ;) I wouldn't jump if I thought I wasn't going to pull all the necessary handles... Since I believe all skydivers feel this way... and some still go in due to no pulls well I guess some of us aren't perfect.
  15. Ya should stick with the local new england guys.... they can handle the cold as well as the hot....
  16. I think if X jumper could sign off on his own reserve packjob that he could pencil pack even easier then now. but at least he is pencil packing with this "ass" on the lines....

  23. heh nice pic.... reminds me of a place I go climbing sometimes... there is a camera angle where I could jump and land 5 feet below where I jump from but it would look like a base jump in the pic... I may throw on my sport rig and get someone to take the picture.
