It's probably going to be jumped Memorial Day weekend, if not earlier. It belonged to the late David Hersey, whose ash dive is that weekend. HW

I was on one at Eloy in February. If you round up enough people to fill a load, they might fly it, boogie or no. HW

Speaking of Rumbleseat....(the club) HW

I just repacked this today; it may get jumped next month. I'm not familiar with the pattern; the company name (Brueggemann and Brand) suggests it might have been made for a German dealer. DOM April 1971. Mark 1, in a POD. HW

1. Highest jump -- Oct. 1953. Looks like she dumped at 11.5. 2. Most jumps -- with gutter gear way back when. HW

Scary stories from the old days?
howardwhite replied to steve1's topic in Skydiving History & Trivia
Well, actually there was a Beech AND a Dornier. I think the statue of limitations is in place. (I was on the Dornier.) HW -
Do these help jog your memory? HW

The Skydivers. HW

I know nothing about that. Present plans call for the Pioneers of Sport Parachuting reunion to be in Orange in 2011....but even that's not certain. HW
-
And what "coast" might that be? HW
-
If I made it bigger, I wouldn't be able to upload it at readable resolution. As noted, just enlarge it in your browser. If your browser doesn't enlarge it, get a new one. HW

And then...the skydiving bear. HW

Not yet, but as mine is broken (knocked off someone else's helmet in Eloy last month), I probably will do so this week. HW

Same to you. Bob is still around, I guess. He was at the Raeford reunion last year. Did you pick up a copy of Jim Hall's book there? It's a good read about his early skydiving days with Dave Burt and Bob. (Disclaimer: I edited the book for him.) One of these days, I'll post a lot more reunion pix somewhere. There's a brief story and pix in the April Parachutist. HW

Brian Williams, one of the original "Arvin Goodguys," was at the reunion in Felicity, CA last month. He's got stories. Some of them are here. HW

No idea about the "real story." I was just on one of my occasional forays into the news archives, looking for something else. HW

September, 1976. The same issue has Andy Keech's story about that new-fangled invention, the hand-deployed pilot chute. Truffer's note decribes the inventor as "a barefoot waterskier, and for whatever it means, has a quieting effect on furry animals and reptiles. Good to see you at The Center of the World. HW

Any body know anything about the USSR's KAP AAD?

From a 1970 Sky Diver ad. Looks like Para-Gear was the supplier. If you're an "exhibitionist jumper," you'll surely want one. HW -
No. This is. HW

Or here. HW

Heehee. George does pig roasts at Skydive Pepperell, and that's his rig. Never saw the pig jump, tho. HW

And did you commit "unnatural acts" with them? HW
