  1. nah, it hasnt been too bad a year for me...just kind of rocky trying to get back on my feet.My credit/finances are in shambles,I've lost most of my friends due to moving away from the ex and I'm still worried about my dad but I think its been a good year all things considered. If I dont pull up my grades in my classes and miss graduating in December then this year's end is gonna suck though. 3. I just recently got to visit Glacier Natl Park during my trip to Lost Prarie this summer.I'd wait until as far into summer as you can get to go to this part of the country.I remember a bottle of water freezing solid over night inside my tent (with a propane heater I might add) at LP this year and that was in July! The weather is very nice during the day at lower altitudes but as you go up in altitude it gets REALLY cold and windy...or it was for me anyway.Plus be aware of altitude sickness.I had a raging migraine 90% of the trip in Glacier b/c I wasnt used to the altitude. But its definitely worth seeing even if you dont make it all the way up the Road to the Sun.Also, take your birth certificates and or passports because some of the area around the park is in Canada or so I've been told.Definitely fly into Kalispell its alot closer. Also, if you do fly into Kalispell, visit the Lang Brewery! They have GREAT beer and ale! I got sooo hooked on it during LP. But if its beautiful scenery for pictures you want then definitely go to Glacier even if its not completely open due to the snow.I got some awesome pictures while I was there! I'll bring them to AOT next weekend if I make it down there.
  4. good for you,Dave. You deserve it.
  5. LOL! I'd LOVE nothing better than to go to Chicks Rock, but I dont have that much money to spend at the moment for airfare to Cali. I just started my new job with the newspaper and we only get paid about $40 per article published and I've only done 6 articles and dont get paid again until the 1st of Oct.Plus I cant miss school right now as we're getting ready for mid-terms. I wish I could make it out that way for Chicks Rock.Maybe next year. For now its gonna have to be a semi-local boogie close to home until I get more $ and graduate. Thanks for the offer though!
  6. Yes he did one tandem back in 2007.I dont think he liked it as much as I expected him to.He was just kinda nonplussed saying "that was enjoyable" instead of how I came down on my first tandem yelling and giggling saying "that was BAD ASS I've GOT to do that again!"Different strokes for different folks I guess. But he is now my EX-husband (left him in December of '07 and the divorce was final May of '08).I've since left Huntsville and moved back to my hometown closer to Dallas. So its a bit more of a drive to Aggieland now but I used to do this distance drive every weekend when I was still doing AFP at Aggieland. So thats not a real big deal.
  7. I've been to about 5-6 boogies in the last several years and havent jumped at any of them.It was only at this last boogie that I attended did problems arise for me that made me regret a few things about going on the trip.Ofcourse things *can* get a bit slow on the ground at a boogie while everyone is jumping and having fun in the air.But theres still fun to be had and friends to catch up with if I go to Aggieland(since its my original home dz).I guess its all about the company you keep. back at ya! who doesnt like Hitchhiker's Guide? But as I said above, I dont want to be molested by any geeks and I've heard there *is* going to be a costume contest....so thats kinda scaring me a bit away from the con. I'm 50/50 on the fence right now personally even though the poll has me going to the convention.Oh well I still have some days to consider it all. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  8. I'm thinking about making the trip down that way for AOTMB, but its conflicting with another event I kinda wanted to go to. If I come I wont be jumping, so whos going to keep me entertained? Just remember I will have my digital camera with me if I show up. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  9. I'm only comparing a boogie to a geek convention b/c my last boogie experience wasnt that great of an experience + I'm not jumping at present so I'd just be around for pictures, beer and beer light activities which are pretty tame at this particular "family oriented" DZ...note:I'm not saying "family oriented" is a bad thing, they're just more PG rated than most R (or X) rated boogies/DZs I've been to. at present I'm leaning toward the boogie anyway b/c like I said in the OP, I'm NOT a really HUGE fan of scifi/fantasy.I'd rather not be molested by a hobbit or Star Trek fanatic if you get my drift. Plus this was a convention I had planned on going to with my now ex-husband so it'd be kinda bittersweet if I went, especially since I'd be going alone to either event. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  10. Ok, so I'd planned awhile back to go to both of these events before I found out they'll be on the same weekend,Oct. 3-5. and I can only really afford to go to one or the other. If I go to the AOT Boogie it will be the more expensive of the two b/c it would include: gas, hotel expenses, boogie registration fees, plus food and beer.Let me make it clear now that I will NOT be jumping if I go to the boogie.I'm not current and have some health issues that are keeping me grounded until further notice.AOT is about a 2hr drive one-way for me and I would probably stay the whole boogie and take pics and hang out. FenCon is a science fiction/fantasy film, book, game etc. fan convention. They're having amateur writing contests and all kinds of geeky stuff...keep in mind that I'm not a HUGE fan of this kind of stuff but I do like a select portion of it like Harry Potter,Eragon,Hellsing(manga and anime) and a few other classics like Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, some Heinlein etc. If I go to this event I'd only go on Saturday and the costs incurred would only be gas money, parking and anything I bought at the convention,so its the cheaper of the two. I would only have to drive to Dallas which is a 1hr drive one-way for me and I'd make the round trip in one day and not stay for the whole convention. So, what would you do? I know its going to be a bit biased b/c I'm asking skydivers on whether I should go to a skydiving activity or not but since I'm not going to be jumping thats a big factor. I dont know if its worth it or not b/c I went to LP and didnt jump and didnt have as good of a time as I'd hoped...although the Lang beer was EXCELLENT! So help me decide! cast your votes and I'll let you know what I decide at a later date. Thanks all!
  11. Well I went all over town looking for it and NO ONE had it!I am PISSED! The closest good book store is 45miles away. I cant get that far away from home this weekend b/c I'm in charge of the house and horses this weekend while my dad is having a 72 hr EEG test going here at home to see if we can find out whats causing his memory/confusion problems and seizure-like activity.*sigh* I guess I'll just have to either order it off the internet or wait til next weekend and go get it. But I've been in a similar situation when I waited in line for the midnight release of the last 3 Harry Potter books. All kinds of weirdos came out of the closet for those! "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  12. The third book in the Inheritance series, Brisingr hits stores this Saturday, Sept. 20th!The first two books were Eragon and Eldest.Who else besides me has been waiting on this one?
  13. I've had rather extensive experience with synvisc (and Hyalgan..ie hyaluronic acid...which is compairable to synvisc) injections into my knees to postpone an inevitable surgery aswell.I've had 7 in my left knee and 5 in my right. My mom has also had numerous injections in her knees and back as well as my late grandmother in her knees and back. Its GREAT! Its a little squishy/bouncy feeling at first when you first move the joint around after the initial injection but as it works into the joint and does its magic its wonderful.I usually have full range of motion and no pain after an injection and usually starts working within 1-3 days after the first injection and stays strong for weeks even months later after a series (usually 5-7injections) is completed. I'd definitely go for it if I were you.Its really increased my quality of life.I unfortunately lost my insurance coverage in my divorce so I cant get them anymore and thus am slowly backsliding into chronic knee pain. hope that helped! if not PM me and I'll try to explain more.
  14. Glad you had a good one Doc! Best wishes to you and lady as always!
  15. Trust me I'd love to be surrounded by a couple of cases of Lang right now! I miss Lang!!!!! "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  16. I wrote an article on the frivious spending of the local city council (especially after they voted themselves a raise) for the local county newspaper I work for now.Its really not that exciting an article thats why I was shocked that it got front page coverage.lol! Unfortunately they dont have the newest edition up on the webpage yet so no link to post.(its a new, very small newspaper still in its growing phases). "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  17. I just picked up my edition of the newspaper I now work for and my first article is front page, above the fold! Woohoo! Its weird seeing my name and work in print...but I'll get used to it. *happy dance* "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  18. mine too!especially when I'm in traffic. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  19. ROFLMAO!!! I love your way of thinking, chica!I had a similar experience with a guy playing "River of Deceit" by Mad Season over and over only to find out hes been lying to me from the word go and stole a buncha shit (money, guns etc.) from me and my family before we broke up to fund a drug habit I didnt know about.Cocksucking fuckheaded crackwhore! But anyway, I' over it now. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  20. Amen granny! I second the motion and thus the motion is passed.no more BolASS! "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  21. Yep and yep.I'm out of school trying to avoid homework and about to go do my first assignment at my new job at the newspaper... nothing exciting, just have to find a way to stretch out a city council budget meeting into 500+ words and take a few photos.god help me! "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  22. So I went through my final interview with the owner and editor of the paper and I got it! I'm now a free lance writer and part-time photographer for the NC Times.I start my first assignment this weekend. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  23. Ok, so I'm not using my crutches anymore (eventhough I probably should be) and I'm back from LP.School starts on Monday.BUT the woman I talked to about a job at the paper finally called back! She wants to talk with me ASAP on Monday b/c they're really needing someone who can write and be a photographer which I think I can do,its just a matter of balancing it with my school schedule.I only have 4 more classes to take to graduate in December and I dont want to fuck it up now and fail a class. So, I've been a bit discouraged b/c its taken them a while to get in touch with me about the job but it looks like I'm still in the running for the position.I'll know more on Monday.Keep your fingers crossed everyone! Thanks for all the positive vibes too!
  24. its going great.3 weeks as a non-smoker as of today. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
