I've always thought that I hear my audible better when wearing earplugs, no matter what type. That has been noted by many others in the various threads about earplugs. Ditto

I know several people who jump their year. They always react promptly.

The lesson is that we all will make mistakes. This is something we have to accept. Those who state that they never will make this or another mistake, will never learn THE lesson. The lesson is: it is very important to have a system to find the mistake, before it poses a problem. Check before you board and check before you jump. Thx for sharing your story. Gr Jurgen

I like my viso, but the neputune (N2, I have no experience with the N3) gives you a little more feedback. Under canopy it also gives you your rate of descend, for ex. 39 ft per sec.

No, but if you really need to know that, put the data in a spreadsheet. PS You can delete last jumps from that logbook.

Sorry for you, but please read your USPA card that proofs that you have an USPA insurance. It will tell you that you are only insured in the USA if you are not an us citizen or green card holder. So as a British bloke you are not insured in Europe with your USPA insurance.

Velo 90/storm 120 >

Just fold the side with the tabs on to the inside of the slider. This way the tabs are not exposed to the lines of the canopy. I will try not to forget to post a picture tomorrow.

It's not that difficult to exceed 45Mph on any canopy.

Pffffft Cypres, Vigil ... are all using the same physical laws. The burble is "there" when a skydiver is falling flat and must be compensated for. Some explain it in their manual others not. Your Cypres is not going to open at 490 ft, it is supposed to fire at 750 ft if you fall on your belly, otherwise it will fire higher. History has proven this enough. More than one Cypres has already fired around 1000 ft during the snivel of the canopy or when a free flyer was still in a sit or ... With a cypres you have to set the offset before each jump again. With a vigil you have to clear the offset, even switching it off and on will not delete the offset. Euh, how many skydivers read the manuals?

Unusual Incident: Blinded by Condensation
jurgencamps replied to AviationTD's topic in Safety and Training
Legturns on student (or rental) gear? The canopy will take tiiiiiiiiiiiime to react I presume. -
Are you doing more than 360° with a high WL (+2.0)? No? No need for a swoop AAD. But, if you are in doubt, use an AAD were you or somebody else can read the data (vertical speed)from it. It is very easy to determe than if you are in the dangerzone. My old protrack 3rd signal always screamed in my ear during my recovery dive. Still not fast enough to be in the dangerzone.

If you are the one who can save someone, you are also the one who has to live with that decision. Pick the lucky one and save him or her. There is no perfect solution for the situation you describe.

Or you can dig a bigger crater. Who says that you can fly it also at 90%? When the velo just came out, I have seen several skydivers who thought that they were able to fly a velo. After some landings, they learned the lesson and sold it. Do not forget that a "higher" performance canopy, is inherent more demanding, more agressive and more dangerous. A formula 1 race-car is not suited neither for very experienced drivers, only for some highly trained, very skilled ... , on a racetrack. Jurgen

During the opening, the nose has to catch air. The stabelisers left and right and the tail (with the brakes werd) will "force" more air to the nose. This will speed up the opening. Soms canopies are designed differently and will not need that the brakes are set.

Firebird Germany customer service experience
jurgencamps replied to treiparinti's topic in Gear and Rigging
I have several friends who jump their evo rigs and I know that they are very happy with the fast (after sales) service. Maybe you were dealing with the wrong person (the coffee woman?) or they thought that you were a scammer? I don't know. -
Anybody remember the video with the canopy sucked on the back ?

First: check the volume of the packingtray of your rig (check website of the manufacturer) Second: see link for packingvolume of canopies http://www.pia.com/piapubs/TSDocuments/TS-104CanopyVolume.pdf CU Jurgen
