  1. The same rules as jumping from a plane (I presume).

  4. This weekend, during a linecheck, I saw that a student packed one brake okay. The other brake was stowed wrong. The student had already more than 20 packjobs.
  5. You can use the bigger version over your sunglasses.
  6. You can mount it without using a pouch. I just use 4 small straps. See orange arrow and circles in the picture in attachement. I do not have a picture of my setup here at hand.
  7. But it will be much more difficult to teach the users to make the right decisions. It is a simple device, let's keep it simple. For some it is already too complicated
  8. AAD's are already mandatory at a lot of DZ's. But in case of a low cutaway, it is very possible that you never achieve the activation speed of your AAD before you hit the ground.
  9. You are from the UK? In the UK there are skydiving schools related to the army. This is not the case in the Netherlands.
  10. An instructor at our DZ broke his back in the 80’s trying something similar .
  11. Sonic is very good, but not cheap. If you want something cheaper, try Rainbow (Germany) or Intrudair (Hungary?) http://www.rainbowsuits.com/en/contact/about-us.shtml http://www.intrudair.com/
  12. Or just start to jump in Germany or Belgium, get your FAI A - D Licenses (world wide accepted) and when you are back in the States, you can ask what you have to do to get an USPA license.
  13. Just be careful when you close the zippers. The zippers of the gear bag of a friend opened up when he was riding his motorbike. His unpacked main sneaked out the bag and pulled his gear out the bag. Sadly a truck behind him could not avoid his gear anymore. So, if it is a double zipper, do not position the zippers in the middle, but at a side. See picture.
  14. Operating an airplane costs money. If you can operate it only 100 hours a year, it wil cost more per hour than if you can operate it 1000 hours a year.
  15. The SPEED 2000 and the PD optimum reserves packs smaller than the "normal" PD reserves. Looking at the CI, it will fit. The Speed 2000 is a good reserve.
  16. I have a storm 120 (WL = 1.8) and a velo 90. I use the storm to wingsuit. I like the storm and I like to swoop it. I do a 270° from 650 ft.
  17. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=273641;search_string=line%20over;#273641 Posted by hooknswoop, scroll down, it is the 10th posting
  18. Before you buy one, ask if you are allowed to use it where you jump. A lot of DZ's do not allow jumping with objects. Imagine that you live near a DZ. Do you accept the risk that an object can fall trough your roof? IT has happened and will happen again.
  19. Do not forget that the tandemsystem (incl. the reserve) is only rated for a certain max. weight. Max 500 lbs, gear included?
  20. Mmm, I hope that you have very strong arms.
  21. Also a 190 canopy A can be smaller or bigger then a 190 canopy B. For ex. a tempo 150 is smaller then a PDR 143.
  22. I made + 2000 jumps on a vengeance 120. I really liked the canopy. It opened very well, very soft, no chops. And I really packed it very sloppy. Some people had shitty openings. I do know that the canopy liked WL's between 1,5 and 1,8. I see three possible reasons for the mixed reviews: - the airlocks were difficult to sew correctly, - unexperienced skydivers who bought the bigger ones with a (too) light WL - or with a WL above 1.8.
  23. 1st: 4000 (or 4500, 5000) (break off) 2nd: 3000 (pull) 3rd: 1600 (pull that damned reserve or you have to deal with a two out situation)
