  1. Well, I did have two cars. A '77 MGB that I restored (my first car) that I drove most of the year and before last winter I bought the car I have now, a '78 BMW 530i. I sold my MG at the end of the summer when I moved to school as I had no garage to keep it in. My BMW had a transmission problem like Lisa's Camaro, no reverse. I also delayed getting it fixed and had to push the car into or out of parking spots. I did that only for a few weeks and then shelled out the bucks to get it fixed. It is much better now. Other than that problem I have been very happy with it. It drives nice and looks like brand new, except for a few little things here and there. I like my car and it gets me to the DZ and back. I do wish I still had my MG, though as it was my baby that I put much time and effort into. It lives on in my life, though, because the money I got when I sold it paid for some school, my rig, and getting into skydiving. Blue Skies, Adam
  2. Hey Mike, That's pretty good. I can imagine what the passengers would think. They would be like, "hey why does the pilot have a parachute, we don't get one." or "Gee, I hope he doesn't decide he's sick of flying the plane and jump on us." Blue Skies, Adam
  3. if you do it wrong how about "possible leg fracture" Blue Skies, Adam
  4. I have about 4 or 5 skydiving T-Shirts. I don't really have a favorite, but I do like to wear any of them to work at the airport. All the pilots and instructors that work there are real whuffos and can't understand why I would want to jump out of an airplane. I love the comments they make when I wear one. Typical stuff like, "Why jump out of a perfectly good airplane?" Because the door was open. Blue Skies, Adam
  5. I don't have many jumps on my canopy but can give a little info on it. I weight about 170 and jump a Tri 160 it flys nice and is pretty responsive to toggle inputs. It didn't turn quite as tight as a Sabre 170 I tried, but quick enough. My openings were pretty slow and soft, but not to slow. The glide was pretty good and on the first two jumps on the canopy I overshot the peas a little. My landings were nice and soft with good flare. I like it better than the Sabre I tried and am very happy with my purchase. It is what I wanted out of a canopy. I encourage you to try a few different canopies before buying and find out what you want the canopy to do. Blue Skies, Adam Edited by flyboy62000 on 3/4/01 02:37 PM.
  6. It is important to check your gear before each jump and if you use the RSL it should be included in the check. I use my RSL and include it in my gear check before I gear up to go to the plane. I check the 3-ring system to be sure the rings are set properly and the cable is through the loop and stowed in the keepers. I check that the reserve cable moves freely in the housing and that the pin is in the closing loop properly. I also check the bridle routing and the main pin to be sure it is in the proper position and that the pilot chute is cocked. I am a pilot and always do a good inspection before a flight. This carries over to skydiving and I feel it is important to do a good gear check before every jump. I may decide to not use the RSL later but for now I will use it. Blue Skies, Adam
  7. Hey Pammi, I got to jump my new rig today. I love my Triathalon. It flys great and opens so soft. No opening shock at all, just pull and it starts inflating it sniveled a little bit longer than a sabre but opens so soft. My landings on it were great but a little bit past the peas because it glides more efficiently than the chute I have been jumping. If your Triathalon is anything like mine you will love it too. Blue Skies, Adam
  8. It's now called Skydive Naples. I haven't been there, but they are affiliated with Rigs and Things Paraservice. I think their website is still under construction, but it is http://www.skydivenaples.com
  9. My instuctor when I went through the student program told me about someone who fixated on the airplane parked on the ground and flew right in the door and landed inside without hitting the sides of the door. Luckily the person wasn't hurt, just a little shooken up. Blue Skies, Adam
  10. I hope you get to jump this weekend, Sis. I did a few jumps today and it was so great. I didn't do anything really exciting and it was a little chilly out, but it was great to jump again. I hope you get to have some fun too. Blue Skies, Adam
  11. I have never gotten any grief from anyone about my choice not to drink. While they drink beer and whatever around the bonfire after the plane lands I'll drink Coke or Mountain Dew and no one thinks I'm not cool for not drinking. I was at Mike Mullins's place in Coolidge over the holidays and was offered alcohol, but when I said no thanks they were cool about it. Anyway, you don't need to drink to be a skydiver. Skydiving is about jumping from planes, not drinking alcohol. Some people like to drink others don't it's all personal preference and nobody should ever give another person grief over making a good decision like not to drink. Just my personal opinion. Blue Skies, Adam
  12. I jumped my Triathalon 160 for the first time today. I am loading it at about 1.1 to 1.2. I am very happy with the performance of the parachute. I had to step a little bit of excess speed off on the first jump because there was little wind, but every landing was great. I can't wait to jump it some more. It is very wise not to get something to small right off the bat. I was jumping a PD-230, then did a few jumps on a 190 and a 170 before I bought my chute. Be careful out there I hate to see people, especially friends get hurt. Blue Skies, Adam
  13. I hope I will get to jump it this weekend. It is looking okay to jump. I just need to see if we will get enough people to make a load. I'll let you know how it goes if i do get to jump. Blue Skies, Adam
  14. I believe Aerodyne recommends a straight pro pack. I haven't jumped my Triathalon yet, but I will let you know how my openings are with this type of pack.
  15. I wonder if he would hold his breath while driving through fog too. After all it is just a cloud at ground level. That's funny. Blue Skies, Adam
  16. Yeah, if the plane depressurized at cruising altitude the cabin altitude would go from about 7000ft to cruising altitude around 35000ft and there is no way the CYPRES would fire. It needs to decend rapidly through about 700-1200ft to fire.

  18. It's not the fall that kills you, it's the sudden stop at the end. Blue Skies, Adam
  19. I've never met anyone who would jump under the influence either. I have heard stories but I think most people are smarter than that. Blue Skies, Adam
  20. I've never done drugs and never will. I don't care if others do, but if they are under the influence of them I won't jump with them until they are sober. I don't know any skydivers that do drugs, other than alcohol and tobacco. My home DZ has a no tolerance policy on drugs and I like it that way. Drinking on the grounds while the plane is flying is a no-no too. If others want to do these things I could care less, unless it affects my safety. I am addicted to skydiving, but only because I love to be in the sky. This is why I am a pilot and a skydiver, and drugs don't fit my lifestyle. Blue Skies and Safe Jumps, Adam
  21. My rig sleeps in the gear bag beside my bed, but right now it is on the couch. I figure if a robber would try to get my rig he would have to get through me first. Blue Skies, Adam
  22. Well I guess it's subjective and I was a little vague with my post. BASE jumps downtown sound like fun that kind of illegal would be okay. I guess I should have been more clear. I don't want to take part in anything that will likely land me in jail or in the hospital and keep me from jumping.
  23. Oops I forgot to sign in again after I got back on the site. Adam

    Alcohol

I don't really like beer too much, but I will bring a case for milestones and firsts,if I can't get someone to buy it for me (not 21 yet). If I don't have beer to bring I'll bring a case of mountain dew as it is what I drink anyway. I don't drink and don't see much point to me drinking, but have no problem with others drinking and beer is tradition so I'll bring some if I can. Blue Skies, Adam
